Much as I'd like to forget my evening in Middlesbrough, we lost the first two.

I know what you mean. Yes it’s against a big club, with some very good players, but they aren’t really setting the world alight and are certainly beatable.

Good chance to go and make a statement with a win. A win wouldn’t guarantee us anything, nor would a defeat but I think it’d be a missed opportunity if we lost, against a side in indifferent form. Bit similar to Swansea really.

I thought we were in for a long old season the night of the Boro game. My Boro mates were scornfully dismissive of us in the pub afterwards saying things like ' you can only beat what's in front of you'. I stored that one away and I'm hoping to be able to give them some back next week.

It's a crucial game to me. Not for the 3 points, but for what it means. We play first. If we win we go top.
Can we do that under pressure and on the TV against Villa?

This team doesn't seem to do 'watershed' games. Haven't really gone on a long winning run, not yet lost two games on the bounce. Suggests results aren't as big an influence on games as you would think.

Our first 2 games this season were lost.
