Got a feeling that tonight is going to be really significant. It's only 3 points at stake, just like any other game but got a feeling that it's really important.
The fact that it's on Sky has probably got something to do with it and our limited success this season at winning away at a "top" side.
Come away with 3 points then I'm thinking play offs a cert and in with a good chance of autos.
Christ we've come a long way in a short time.
I will be watching the first half before setting off to work and trying to catch the last 20 mins on the radio. To all you travelling, sing loud (I'm sure you will) and proud.

My feeling is lose tonight Auto's gone.
I think we will definitely make the play offs due to the fact most of our home games are against bottom half opposition which we don't seem to struggle to beat.
Ultimately it comes down to us not been able to win away at the clubs in and around the play offs.
The the play offs well it will be us and any 3 from Leeds, WBA, Norwich, Derby, Middlesbrough, Bristol City, Possibly Aston Villa, oh and the Pigs of course.
Being a betting man and given our play off record i wouldn't back us to win them.

Pessimistic Blade.

Too many games left to call it a watershed game, if we win we don't get promoted if we lose we don't get relegated, we win or lose 3 points, and as teams around us, Leeds n Norwich included are pretty inconsistent I don't really think dropping 3 points away at such as villa is quite as devastating as dropping 3 points away at South Barnsley,
Having said all that I'm pretty happy with how we are progressing and fully expect a win at villa park. UTB

We’ll lose tonight because we’re on the tele.

Realistic I'd call it.

I think win this tonight and as even the most pessimistic/superstitious of fan I The we will be stronger both off the pitch in terms of belief and end up in a posistion where an auto spot is ours to lose.

I'm with you brother.

No logic but sheer gut feeling that tonight will be pivotal one-way or the other. It's the start of a run of games that will ultimately decide our season imho.

Law of averages, Sky, big team, away, Go top !
It’s not what we do but we due one

Auto's won't go, too many games left. Be nip & tuck. But it is a significant game. Big crowd. Sky. Villa want revenge. Villa want to kick-start promotion chase. Possible return of Grealish. Our track-record against big clubs is not great. Chance to go top. As they leave the dressing-room, can imagine Wilder saying 'How much do you want it?'

Look at our run in and you can make a case that any number of them are crucial games. I’ve resolved that this year I’m really not going to do the usual Blades thing and start shitting myself about what ifs and making excuses before we start. I’m going to bloody well relish every one of them, thankful that we’ve got the best team I can remember and that we’ve got players and management that will do their utmost to achieve success. The only thing we can do is back them in every match and not sit there like a bunch of nervous nellies chewing our finger nails.

7 games between now and Leeds away. Win 5 and we are looking fantastic for top 2.

Tonight isn't must win. A point would be nice. West Brom and Boro are the big ones. And Wednesday obviously

Psychology plays a big part in sport, and some games are more pivotal than others regardless of being worth only 3 points

The games against Villa, Middlesbro, Leeds and West Brom will either make or break the whole season

Lose three of them, or even all four of them (easily done) and I think the best we can hope for is play offs

Pick up 7-8 points from them and we're in with a real shout

Bollocks. I opened this thread fully expecting a review of the long overdue sequel to that rabbit film......... we are in General Blades Chat after all.
I was hoping it was the ladies team playing in the "Topless D-cup", oh well.

This team doesn't seem to do 'watershed' games. Haven't really gone on a long winning run, not yet lost two games on the bounce. Suggests results aren't as big an influence on games as you would think.

I’d take 6/7 points from the next 3 if I could now. Notnthe end of the world if we don’t win tonight.

I like the thought of going top and both Leeds and Norwich needing something tomorrow

Norwich away was a watershed and looked on paper a tougher match than villa. We got a very well deserved point then they beat leedsc3-0 away. No reason not to be positive about tonight or any opposition particularly with squad depth we now enjoy. 2-1 United tonight.

Haven’t won at villa park since 1966

Win tonight and that puts a real statement out to Norwich and Leeds that we're up for the fight.

I think 7 points would be a great return. been saying all week I'd happily take 7 from next 3. even 6 wouldn't be end of the world.

We have one hell of a chance Blades. Just believe.

With 16 games remaining, a loss, as unwelcome as it would be, wouldn't end our hope of an automatic place.

I think the key elements to where any team is at this stage of the season is down to form, injuries and which key players are absent, plus the psychological mindset of the players and management concerned. I'd go so far as to suggest that man-management would be as crucial as any other aspect of what you hope to achieve.

I suppose it's part of the entertainment of calculating what might happen if. Leeds losing to Norwich was about as good a result for the Blades as we could hope for, we're three points off the top, there's 48 points waiting to be played for, and we appear to have recruited well in the January window. What we do have is a manager who won't allow complacency, the players will know what's ahead so I'd imagine they're self-motivated to the point where they know exactly what's required.

Here's to a win tonight UTMB!!!

Much as I'd like to forget my evening in Middlesbrough, we lost the first two.
