Warnock would be fun

I know this is a joke but I wouldn't be opposed to Warnock taking over until the end of the season.

We're already relegated but I think we'd finish on more points with Warnock in charge than Heckingbottom or Wilder.
It isn't a joke. I think he would get more points too.

He isn't a long term appointment but he's best when stuck with a bunch of players and trying to pump some life into them.

How can Warnock possibly be worse than Heckingbottom?

In 2006-07 we went down with 38 points.

Thirty eight!

Heckingbottom is on course to get about 3 or 4 points this season.
So unfair to pin it all on him personally. Finding comments like that baffling.

Obviously it's not all Heckingbottom's fault.

But he has to be judged on what is actually happening, not some alternate timeline where we kept Ndiaye and he was given a £100m transfer kitty.

But I don't think Prime Sir Alex Ferguson would have us on many more than a handful of points (so far) this season, under the circumstances.

Sooner him than Wilder
100% ... we are going down (not that this is a shock to me) and the focus is now getting 13points ....... Love Hecky for what he has done ... Love CW for simply being CW ... adore Harry Bassett - the best manager of all ................ it for me is a no brainer, Warner until July 1st (not a second longer) - giving us 7 months to find the next man (or woman lol) .... our saving grace is that we have the best Championship Team ever (and I can't see many of our players in he same league as James Ward Price or James Maddison when they went down - so we keep them all )

Some unbelievably unfair comments on Neil Warnock ..IMO ..

The season they got relegated under him ..as mentioned , with 38 points ..he ..and the Club were incredibly unlucky

He and SUFC didn't deserve relegation ..this was the season of the Tevez affair , and the protected species of West Ham Utd , got away with blatant cheating

Didn't help , Danny Webber missing a shot at goal against Wigan in the final game , your Granny could have tucked away ..and went down on Goal Difference and one solitary goal

You blame Warnock for all that ?

Wow .

I'd appoint him for the season ..least you'd see some fight ..some spirit ..and someone who actually cares

and
" He responded by defending Heckingbottom on TalkSPORT.

“Paul Heckingbottom is doing a fantastic job and I don’t think anybody can do any better with what he’s had. He’s lost his two best players in the summer, there are all sorts of names being mentioned.

“I’m sure they are all trying to vie for the job. But I think the Prince will give him a few more games, me. Quite rightly so. I think he deserves it. Because he’s not spent a lot of money. I’m supportive of Paul.”

Not forgetting the single most impactful thing that season, Rob Styles deciding what Chris Morgan 'intended' to do and then awarding a penalty to Liverpool. We should have had 40 points.

Warnock would be an awful replacement. His "up and at 'em, in your face" approach is no longer possible in the Premier League as it now a non-contact sport, helped by VAR. The Championship will go the same way in the next 3-4 years.

Id rather up and at them , than the current stand off and let them take shots on our goal approach ......... we have conceeded the most goals and wes has made the most saves as well.... says it all

Yep. Styles inferred 'intension to foul' would become a common practise amongst the refs, but I can't recall it happening again at the highest level or with such a match changing impact.

I give a like because you put forward a name, be it good or bad, instead of the two former reprobate managers everyone suggests.
His overall record don't look all that great though.
My own thoughts are that Heckingbottom needs a temporary 'aide' for the sake of a better word.
A person of PL nous, proven footballing brain with ability not to ruffle to many feathers whist putting things back on track.
As a long standing supporter/fan I'm dismayed at the lack of imagination shown by people on here ref. a new manager.
Surely Blades supporters/fans are better than that?

Warnock is a great character but his premier league record is gash.

I can't understand people's perception that Warnock would be crap in the PL. We are not staying up so it won't make a difference in that regard as no one can keep us up. What he will do is organise the fucking team and try to get them put a bit of pride back in the shirt. That's why we need someone of his ilk replacing Hecky. If he can limit the damage for the rest of the season and get them working together then who ever comes in as a long term replacement can start with a clean slate and no baggage.

Getting a long term manager in now runs the risk of all the PL losses to come, impacting negatively on perception of his management abilities and players not responding. What we need right now is to let Warnock run amok until the end of the season and have the homework done on who is replacing him.

So is having sex that one time with someone with STDs ..then you eventually find out your dick fell off as a result of that fun.

Warnock? No. We need a manager for the long-term, somebody who will stick with us for a number of years to help us rebuild - and if that can be under a new owner then even better!

I feel a goose video coming on, being watched in the biggest room in Shirecliffe

Although personally I wouldn't want Warnock back since that relegation season there has been only one season (2010/2011) where 38 points wouldn't have seen you safe since which is crazy when people thinking that the bar should be so high at 40 odd its closer to 33-35.

While I’m not suggesting Warnock is the answer I don’t understand the hatred for him from some of our fan base.
He was very loyal to the club, never complained about a lack of transfer spending and also was happy diverting cash to build the academy that he could have used to buy players.
He didn’t get the pay rise he had been promised when we got promoted - any other manager would have walked under these circumstances.
I think he did the right thing by the club to the detriment of his own career and financial success so deserves a bit more respect really.

Absolutely, however i think most of the posters on here weren't even around then!

Similarly with Wilder, I don't get how some people can forget how much both managers did for us. They literally transformed our club at different times.

Warnock did a great job with us, without him we might well have slumped to the 3rd tier around the time of his appointment.
He steadied us, had the foresight to think we needed to set up some sort of academy (With McCabe) and delivered some great seasons.

McCabe's biggest mistake was letting Warnock go really and then appointing Robson. We would have bounced straight back if he'd even given Warnock half the funds he did to Robson.

Over the years since Warnock left I've often thought we could have done with re-employing him. Certainly when we did eventually end up in L1. And to be honest I think he would maybe have come back had McCabe no longer been the owner.

As for now, we would only appoint Warnock to see if he can do something for a season. He's not a manager you can plan much further forward than that now, especially as a Premier League club. As much as I think Neil gets unnecessary flack for his style of play at times he also for the most part doesn't seem to fit the mould of a top flight manager in this day and age.

Might be worth remembering this particular season..1990

Looked pretty dire didn't it ?

From memory , United played my mob Derby next at Bramall Lane ..( I was there ) won 1-0 with a Glynn Hodges goal .. confidence grew and you stayed up

Time for someone , somewhere to show a bit of backbone , be brave and dig deep ..it's not too late given .. remarkably..you are not miles adrift from escape

I dont see why Billy Whitehurst couldn't come in and do a job until the end of the season, he wouldn't let us go down without a fight, he'd get us punching above our weight. He might have to drop a few players, he'd definately get a hold of the injury situation.

Don’t hate him but didn’t he apply for the Portsmouth job? Apologies if that’s incorrect but if so it isn’t very loyal
