I know this is a joke but I wouldn't be opposed to Warnock taking over until the end of the season.

We're already relegated but I think we'd finish on more points with Warnock in charge than Heckingbottom or Wilder.

It isn't a joke. I think he would get more points too.

He isn't a long term appointment but he's best when stuck with a bunch of players and trying to pump some life into them.

But he has to be judged on what is actually happening, not some alternate timeline where we kept Ndiaye and he was given a £100m transfer kitty.

100% ... we are going down (not that this is a shock to me) and the focus is now getting 13points ....... Love Hecky for what he has done ... Love CW for simply being CW ... adore Harry Bassett - the best manager of all ................ it for me is a no brainer, Warner until July 1st (not a second longer) - giving us 7 months to find the next man (or woman lol) .... our saving grace is that we have the best Championship Team ever (and I can't see many of our players in he same league as James Ward Price or James Maddison when they went down - so we keep them all )

Didn't help , Danny Webber missing a shot at goal against Wigan in the final game , your Granny could have tucked away ..and went down on Goal Difference and one solitary goal

Warnock would be an awful replacement. His "up and at 'em, in your face" approach is no longer possible in the Premier League as it now a non-contact sport, helped by VAR. The Championship will go the same way in the next 3-4 years.

Yep. Styles inferred 'intension to foul' would become a common practise amongst the refs, but I can't recall it happening again at the highest level or with such a match changing impact.

I give a like because you put forward a name, be it good or bad, instead of the two former reprobate managers everyone suggests.
His overall record don't look all that great though.
My own thoughts are that Heckingbottom needs a temporary 'aide' for the sake of a better word.
A person of PL nous, proven footballing brain with ability not to ruffle to many feathers whist putting things back on track.
As a long standing supporter/fan I'm dismayed at the lack of imagination shown by people on here ref. a new manager.

I can't understand people's perception that Warnock would be crap in the PL. We are not staying up so it won't make a difference in that regard as no one can keep us up. What he will do is organise the fucking team and try to get them put a bit of pride back in the shirt. That's why we need someone of his ilk replacing Hecky. If he can limit the damage for the rest of the season and get them working together then who ever comes in as a long term replacement can start with a clean slate and no baggage.

Getting a long term manager in now runs the risk of all the PL losses to come, impacting negatively on perception of his management abilities and players not responding. What we need right now is to let Warnock run amok until the end of the season and have the homework done on who is replacing him.

Although personally I wouldn't want Warnock back since that relegation season there has been only one season (2010/2011) where 38 points wouldn't have seen you safe since which is crazy when people thinking that the bar should be so high at 40 odd its closer to 33-35.

Similarly with Wilder, I don't get how some people can forget how much both managers did for us. They literally transformed our club at different times.

Warnock did a great job with us, without him we might well have slumped to the 3rd tier around the time of his appointment.
He steadied us, had the foresight to think we needed to set up some sort of academy (With McCabe) and delivered some great seasons.

McCabe's biggest mistake was letting Warnock go really and then appointing Robson. We would have bounced straight back if he'd even given Warnock half the funds he did to Robson.

Over the years since Warnock left I've often thought we could have done with re-employing him. Certainly when we did eventually end up in L1. And to be honest I think he would maybe have come back had McCabe no longer been the owner.

As for now, we would only appoint Warnock to see if he can do something for a season. He's not a manager you can plan much further forward than that now, especially as a Premier League club. As much as I think Neil gets unnecessary flack for his style of play at times he also for the most part doesn't seem to fit the mould of a top flight manager in this day and age.

I dont see why Billy Whitehurst couldn't come in and do a job until the end of the season, he wouldn't let us go down without a fight, he'd get us punching above our weight. He might have to drop a few players, he'd definately get a hold of the injury situation.
