Looking back at that premiership season, we played with a lot of desire and he got 110% out of the players (cliche cliche cliche etc.), but he made some rash decisions and didn’t seem to know what to do away from home at times. That said, his points total wasn’t awful, but we could have stayed up.
I think the problem was that we had invested in ‘project warnock’ big time. His players (‘something to prove’, ‘do a job’) in a team completely in his image, which is quite a restrictive one.
We’re arguably doing something similar with Wilder, but lucky for us he favours attacking, passing football. When he does finally leave (hopefully a long time from now), there should be a multitude of similar minded coaches to choose from, and we can have some consistency.
