The man himself is on the brink of joining QPR according to Sky Sports.
Good luck to him.
He'll be gunning for us big time in a couple of weeks. Should be a good one IMO.

Warnock Bingo!

"Always fancied managing here"
"Cracking club with great supporters"
"Always enjoyed coming here as an away manager"
"Last job in football"
"Thought about packing it in a few years ago but my young family keeps me going"

Seriously this is bad news for the campaign to remove Wednesday from the league. I'd have backed Warnock's Palace to muster up enough points to finish above the unclean but I fear they may be rudderless now. Hopefully they'll get someone in like Coppell who will do a good enough job but I'm not so sure they'll be able to attract him with their current situation.

Too right. I'm gutted. It would just be the pigs luck for Portsmouth to get punished with relegation owing to their financial situation, which I'm told would mean only 2 teams relegated from the Championship. I don't know if that would happen or not but it would be just like those jammy feckers to avoid the drop cos of Pompey and Palace's troubles.

Anyway, good luck Sir Neil, apart from the week after next.

I think this significantly raises our hopes for a result on Saturday. Palace fans seem to think it'll be Southgate in aided by Coppell - I seriously doubt they could afford anything like that. They need a motivator type in to continue to get the best out of those players, because they certainly won't be able to change the squad till the summer.

Perhaps palace might have been his last job and this gets him out of the possibility of been relegated at the sty??

"There is no way I am going to walk out. If they can agree compensation then that's different."

And a big fat signing-on bonus obviously.

I think it would be wholly wrong to suggest Neil would ever, ever, ever think of himself before Crystal Palace or any other club he happens to be managing at the time.
I really can't see QPR and Neil Warnock going together, I'm not sure they see themselves in a muck and nettles stylee.

Warnock comfirmed as QPR boss!

He's gone to QPR.....

Queens Park Rangers have confirmed the appointment of Neil Warnock as their new manager on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

Sky Sports News revealed earlier on Monday evening that a deal had been reached with Championship relegation rivals Crystal Palace for their boss after compensation was agreed.

Warnock's future had become uncertain after Palace went into administration in January and Rangers have taken advantage of the problems at Selhurst Park.

The ex-Sheffield United chief becomes the fifth manager of the season at Loftus Road, replacing caretaker Mick Harford.

Warnock told QPR's official website: "I am delighted to be joining a club with the history that QPR has.

Perfect time
"As a manager, Loftus Road is always a place I loved because of the fantastic atmosphere there.

"Looking from afar I believe this is the perfect time for me to come in, with the new structure and chairman in place.

"Together we can give the club the stability that it needs.

"I am really looking forward to the challenge that's in front of me."

QPR chairman Ishan Saksena said: "Neil was always our No.1 target and so we are delighted to announce him as our manager.

Great experience
"He has great experience in English football and a phenomenal track record. I believe he is the right man to help QPR achieve its ambitions.

"Neil will be given the full support of the board, and I know our fans will give him their full backing as well."

Harford said: "I was more than happy to help the club out when they asked me, and I did the best I could during my time in caretaker charge.

"The club needs an experienced manager in order to move forward, and I wish Neil every success.

"He has joined a fantastic football club with brilliant supporters, and I sincerely hope he does well."

Good luck Neil, but not when you play us at the Lane! :D

Biggest contract (in wage and length) that he's ever been on I imagine. Which is presumably quite reassuring given their recent turnover in managers.

First signing in the summer for him will be Darren Ambrose I imagine - he's been a completely revitalised player at Palace.

OOPs. I think you posted this just too soon. lol .

Warnock's done all right with this one. a 31/2 year contract with a club that has a track record of sacking its managers every 8 games? That's a no-brainer if ever there was one!

Are you suggesting that somewhere in the dark recesses of his mind Our Neil is thinking that once the trigger finger twitches a bit too hard, he will get a nice little pay off (which he would never have got from Spray-tan Jordan) and can finally fuck off on his tractor?

Good luck to him. He's the sort of manager they need at the moment and QPR is an ideal sort of club for him - underdogs with a proud history and a little bit of an attitude. I think he will do well there. They will certainly be challengers next year for my money.

He will stamp out the player power that exists there, that's for sure. Don't be surprised to see Buszaky and co. out on loan in the next couple of weeks. He will root out the trouble makers straight away. NW doesn't like anyone with a bigger ego than him!

Hahahahahaha.

NW's column in the Independent today........

You will know by now I am making the short trip (only about two hours by car) across London from Crystal Palace to QPR.

Leaving a club in administration for one with huge potential must look an easy decision but it has been one of the most difficult of my career, and there's been a few. The reason I am sad, as well as excited, is that of all the clubs I have been at the fans at Crystal Palace have been the best.

It's easy to say, but I'm not just saying it because I'm leaving. The support they have given me and the players during a very difficult few months, and beforehand, has been fantastic and it is something I will never forget. As everyone knows, I'm a northerner, and we all think that's the only hotbed of football, but after managing Palace I know better.

It is hardly a secret that QPR have been after me for a while. It's nice to be wanted and they made it clear I was their only choice which is a fantastic vote of confidence. They would not take "no" for an answer. But although I had been advised I could have just walked out on Palace I did not want to sell them short and the reason this has gone on so long is that I wanted both clubs to be in agreement before I moved.

I owe a lot to Palace. They have rekindled my enthusiasm for management. If it was not for Simon Jordan there is no way I would have come to London (and realised it's not such a bad place after all) and regained my desire to get back in to the Premier League.

QPR is a great challenge, the type I revel in. It has been a poisoned chalice for many managers recently but with new people taking over I feel I can give them the stability I know the fans and players have been craving. It is a club with a great tradition and a ground I’ve always enjoyed going to. All I can promise is all I ever promise: I’ll do my best.

and he's already asking after Henderson on loan with view to a permanent deal.

I'm surprised he's taken it in a way, kind of hoped that he'd stick it out and keep Palace up at the pigs expense.

But from Palace's point of view, I think he was quite expensive (reportedly at Palace he was the highest paid manager in the Championship) and also sticking his nose in with the administrators wanting to flog everyone. They need a yes man... Blackie?

Palace will also receive a decent pay off as compensation and he's now off their wage book so the administrators will be more than happy, they can get a real cheap option in now.

Palace is one or two extra chapters in his book.

Which leads on to QPR, new chapter(s) more cash, more wages and the ego booster that if he lasts 10 games he's the longest serving manager for a long time.

Expectation at QPR will also be rock bottom so he can win them over quickly

He may come in for Hendo and Quinn on loan

Oh and he gets an all expenses trip back to Sheffield next week.

Everyone wins!

Looking at 606, the Palace fans don't seem to have much bad feeling for him leaving, despite many claiming that they'd be doomed if he went. They might have a point with Hart in charge.

Understandable decision on Warnock's part really, a nearby club with a lot more resources. he keeps them up and he's a saviour, if they go down it's not his fault, prob on a lot of money to set himself up for retirement.

He says he wants one last crack at the Prem. He'll have to work fast, but good luck to him that corrupt league will be better off with him in it.

Hart has taken John Pemberton as his assistant, so there'll still be an ex blade present in the home dugout.
It would be good to get Pembo as the academy director at the lane. He seemed to have done a good job at Forest as their academy boss.
