Strongbow Black 7.5% Vol it's the dogs!
I was always a Stones man myself, but I can't deny I liked a good pint of Wards. the question should be "where can you now buy a decent pint of locally produced bitter?" as he cries into his pint pot of mass produced nitro-keg canned fart producer!
Magnet. Shame they're going to stop brewing it. Proper pint that!
I dont want to sound too biased, but even though the birley is only a fart away from our gaff, its stones creamflow is quality.and at only £1.70(£1.55 mondays)its not to be sniffed at.Coach and Horses at Dronfield, or all through the Real Ale Trail.
The only thing is, I was brought up without having to look for a good local beer. It was on every bloody corner. As for a 'good pint of Stones', you might as well ask for the moon on a stick.
As much as I'm a member of CAMRA, they really fucked up by forcing the MMC report in the late 80s/early 90s.
Stones in The Corner Pin on Carlisle Street, just need a time machine to take us back to the 70's.
Ward's was the best back 'in the day'or whatever that is supposed to mean. Now it is Kipling, Halycon and Jaipur from Thornbridge Brewery, makes my drive to Coach and Horses at Dronfield well worth it, but trouble is costs me a fortune to get home...

I'll raise you a "K".
Fan of the Rutland for ales, they always have a good and varied selection and very different week-to-week. Usually something from Kelham Island, Abbeydale or Thornbridge in. Suits as well when meeting the boys off the train since it's halfway![]()
