Can’t believe I thought this guy was a good signing based on one tackle vs Man City. He is utter tripe.

There is a good player in there, just needs the players around him to step up and a manager to figure out his strengths and use them. He is NOT a match winner, he is a ball winner. So use him in midfield to win those tackles and get the ball back and set up the next attack. I didn't hear his name once in the first half, either he is crap or severely not motivated. Either way a change is needed.
Hope you're right

He's absolutely nowhere near that man either, who retreated back down the pitch once the play moved inside.

He's stood in No Man's Land, effecting nothing, and making zero effort to get back involved.
We have 6 or 7 men in and around our penalty area marking 4 of their players. Why should he be trying to get involved? It's not kids football where everyone chases the ball. He was appalling yesterday but this goal was the fault of Thomas and Hamer.

I already said the goal wasn't his fault, but by laziness or ineptitude he's left himself completely out of the game. He's just stood watching, he's not achieving anything stood out wide marking nobody.

I'm afraid Thomas is another Max Lowe, lacking guts and determination.

So what should he have been doing?

That is what he is used for? That is what he attempts to do but ability and desire is stopping him no one else is stopping him.

Do you think Hecky says go out there and stroll about without a care in the world, don’t help out in defence, don’t sprint back, don’t tackle and win the ball?

Of course he doesn’t, he tells him to go out there and disrupt, win the ball, carry the ball and develop attacks, work your socks off and track your runners and track back, you know just what is expected of a modern day premier league midfielder. Souza does Zero of that.

Yesterday, Souza offered one of the worst performances I've seen from a United midfielder. At no point did he look like a competent footballer. Everyone there got worse at their own jobs for watching him. I award him no points and may God have mercy on his soul

So what should he have been doing?

Making some attempt to get back involved with the play. As it happened it wouldn't have made a difference but say Foderingham had saved the initial shot, Souza was still stood half a mile away like an absolute Charlie as it was all going on.

It's not so much that he made an error that led to a goal on this occasion but his behaviour was indicative of the problems in his game generally - standing about as people run off him.

He had a shot against Forest and therefore he is great and it's all Norwood's fault Amen.

Fair enough. I do agree with the fact that he didn't even try yesterday. Luke Thomas was equally awful for me yesterday. The drop ball incident was a disgrace.

Oh I can definitely agree there!

That drop ball thing was hilarious.

He’s 25 in June, he’s on a four year deal (i can hear you screaming in horror in the background). He’ll be almost 29 when his contract is done!

He’s a signing who is meant to be up & running now. How he’s still playing as a midfielder at 24 when he can’t do 50% of the job is beyond me!?

I’ll say it again. I’m not sure what you want him to do differently. He’s followed his man who then just happened to stop his forward run. He’s done precisely what he should’ve done. Had he left his man go free down the wing you’d have criticised him for it.

Would you seriously want him to go wandering into the middle, where he didn’t have a man to mark, rather than following his runner? That’s about as the basics of football as it gets.

which 50 % ?

Andrews might be good for him but tbh I don't know how we can get much out of him at this level

going to.give him the benefit of the doubt that if norwood is out of tge team he can play def mid

Gets a clean slate like the rest of them. Come on Vini prove us wrong! 👍

One of the players who I think 'could' improve under Wilder.

If he does indeed improve, he could actually be one of the main players who makes a difference to our season.

Watched the training session the first one with Chris Wilder back in charge. Souza’s comment it’s freezing well mate get on with it son.

Then the look on his face of what the hell am I doing here as Wilder told the players what’s what

Yes Souza your gonna have to put some effort in now and earn your wage

I think he will. When we concede goals, he's always absolutely gutted.
Also, when Norwood scored the pen against Wolves, he just fell to his knees in joy.

He gets it, i'm sure
We shall see because he needs to put the effort in…his face said it all hopefully he gets stuck in

It was pretty much literally freezing tbf.

We Brits comment on the weather constantly. Souza not allowed?!

He’s out on loan in January 100%. Back to Spain or Saudi

I would fully back Wilder in this one

I think the lads got the potential to cut it in the PL if he addresses one issue in his game. His recoveries. Often, when he loses possession or we turn over possession, high up the pitch, he has a moment when his head literally drops and a moment later he decides to run back (sometime trott because the play has already moved beyond his influence) into position. If he can get his head straight and focus in those moments, he'll be much more effective and consistent.
