Villa for Naughton?

Apparently Villa and Man City are lining up £6million bids for him in January.

My mate phil keeps in touch with Naughton and rings him every now and then from back when he was at our school.

Phil say's he told him that he has no intentions of leaving and that he loves it here.

Will the lure of the Premiership be too big though? Hopefully his Blade heart will keep him here.

If they come for him he wants to grab the chance............
don't stay at Hoofball United that would be my advice to him.

That said, I can understand your sentiment a little as it does get frustrating as United never seem to put together a really good team. Buying is always 1/2 hearted, we never really commit to trying to get back to the Premiership.

Take this last couple of years. We could have taken a gamble last year or the year before, bought in some really good players (for a price and subject to availability) and signed then on 2 or 3 year contracts so their contracts were due to expire along with the parachute payment this year. Would have given us a real shot at the Premiership for very little risk because if we'd failed to get up, they would have been out of contract and we could have let them go when the parachute payment and thus monies stopped and thereby avoided a Leeds situation (remember when it went wrong for them when they gambled huge sums and went down the same year?).

United would have had 2 or 3 years of real opportunities to go up. If we had done so, we'd have had a good core to build upon. If we'd failed, the players we could no longer afford top pay would have been out of contract, could have been let go, and thus United's finances would have be stable.

I don't question what you're saying about hoofball United but its hardly very loyal to actively advise one of our best players to leave.

He probably doesn't come here and probably wouldn't take anyone's advice if he did, but encouraging someone to leave who is one of the best we have isn't loyal in my book.

I couldn't blame him if he left, but I wouldn't encourage him to do so and considering it would leave United much worse off if he did leave, its hardly wanting the best thing for a team which is what a supporter is supposed to do.

Kyle Naughton is being strongly linked with a move to St James's Park

Toon boss Joe Kinnear wants a new right-back and his transfer team have been impressed hugely with England Under-21 man Naughton.

Reports in the North East suggest an initial offer of £1.5m will be made to test the water but with Hull and Blackburn also interested, the Blades will wait on further offers before deciding whether to cash in.

Muhahahahahaha £1.5mil?!?!

........an initial offer of £1.5m will be made to test the water........
They can try, but they'll find that the water is a hell of a lot deeper than that. Cheeky buggers.

The Daily Star says Toon boss Joe Kinnear will offer £5 million for Blades fullback Kyle Naughton and midfielder Stephen Quinn.

Gone up to £8m in this report.............

Joe Kinnear has joined the chase for whizkid Kyle Naughton.

Sheffield United have slapped an £8million price tag on Naughton, even though the rightback has played only 20 senior games for the promotion-chasing Championship outfit.

But the 20-year-old has made such a stunning impact that he has already wonhis first England Under-21 cap and is a target for Premier League big guns Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester City.
