You backtracking on only 2 year contracts now?
I mean, what I said was clear to me. It's a football forum and I'm adding my opinions to a discussion.

You seem desperate to make this personal. I've made that error with others in the past and I'm not interested in doing it again thanks 👍

Championship goalkeeping stats here.

Johansson looks like a slightly above-average shot-stopper, excellent at dealing with crosses. The concern might be his ability to play out from the back--rarely throws, almost always kicks long. But that could be more to do with Rotherham's style of play than his skillset.

Well this screws up the clubs usual excuses for why we don't players early in the window. Fair play to Stoke for moving quick. I have zero faith in this Mickey Mouse football club or Wilder in getting business done early when it comes to free signings. The thing that annoys me more is when our fans make excuses and accept the failure and exaggerate to back up their argument.

"We don't need new signings, we've got the best squad in the league and in Hamer and Arblaster, two best midfielders outside the Premier League. When McBurnie re-signs he will bag a hat full this season (11 was his tally for league goals last time, but who needs logic).
They have moved for a keeper who was part of a team that went down, I’m not sure it’s excuses to say maybe we had little interest in the guy

No nothing personal you're just the only one peddling this 2 year contract theory as though it's a fact.

So your problem is I think something and then wrote it. If I'm wrong, I'll think other things and write those.

Opinions 🤷‍♂️

Ramsdale played for a team that went down, it didn't stop Arsenal from signing him.

Players out of contract or with cheap options have all the power.

Other clubs can offer longer contracts. Anything past 2 seasons at United (especially for the £££ he will get would be club options). Why bother when you can get guaranteed money elsewhere?
Perhaps he doesn't want to play for another local club after Rotherham ?
Perhaps he knows some current United players who've told him the club isn't the happiest place currently?
Perhaps United already have a loan deal for someone like Rushworth lined up?
Perhaps United don't rate him as highly as Stoke?

He's a very good Championship keeper who's had an decent season without reaching the heights of the previous year. If he didn't play for Rotherham there'd be virtually no noise about it.
That is a statement of fact not an opinion

That you portray as fact.
There’s strong logic supporting why we would be looking to offer 2-3 year contracts given our income falls of a cliff after that time and our owner can’t supplement it.

Yes it's a possibility but it's not factual that this is the case.

Given that Arblaster and Faxon signed for longer, it isn’t.
Come on, that’s being massively disingenuous. They’re unlikely to be on top contracts are they? It’s the high wage ones that give us the huge risk from Y3.

It's like one continuous annual cycle on this thread - season ends, clamour for new signings immediately with suggested signings mainly comprising ex-Blades players or players that have once had a half decent game against Utd, anger that club waits for targets' current contracts to end in June, more anger when suggested signings go elsewhere (see above thread), yet more anger when unheard of players are signed, even more anger when signings, especially Prem loans, are deemed too late, further anger by those that confuse transfer fees and overall playing budget, and the huge drop in revenue from Prem to Champ, that not enough has been spent - have a pop at the owner and Board. Rinse & repeat around Jan.

Good shout. Saw him back in Sweden for Hammarby and the U-17 and U-19 national team. Went to Villa, got released but worked his way through and actually have been 2nd and 3rd choice for Sweden now. Really funny that he nowadays have a foreign accent when he speak Swedish in addition to forgetting some words, replacing them with English ones!

Doing well at Stoke now? I've seen some good performances by JWZ at Derby also. Dovin at Coventry also getting some minutes. Nice!
