Two distinct groups of fans. One section trying to spin it, with comments about us hurting because we didn’t score more and how they’re not championship level players etc etc.

The other section, that I would be in, if I were in their shoes, criticising the abject lack of fight and effort.

L1 level or not, they should have been up for it more than they were. I’d expect a more difficult game from a L1 team in the cup, for example.

Add to that, that we’re their hated rivals, I think it was fair for them to expect more than they got from that team.

Deluded to try to spin that result, or the celebrations at the end.

Should direct their attention to the 10 players that failed to perform or fight. Only that Amass lad looked up for it.

They’re banking everything on new ownership bringing about a rapid improvement. They just need to look at us, to know that that isn’t a certainty.

You’re absolutely right. They talk about imagining 50-60k… they currently have a 40k stadium and never fill it.

They talk about when they’re back how good they’ll be, but never get back...

They talk about history or the 4-0 Boxing Day, of a league cup win at Wembley, of their brief European tour, they talk of waddle, Hirst, Sheridan and Des Walker, some cracking times and cracking players, no doubt. They confuse facts with realities of their history and attendances.

We talk in the present and recent history.

we don’t have to imagine playing in 50-60k stadiums we’ve been doing it on the regular in the last decade.
