That's the strange thing about the acoustics of football grounds. We were at the Wimbledon game last week, standing on the home terrace on the same side of the ground as our "official" fans (i.e. 50 odd yards from the bulk of Blades) and you honestly wouldn't have known there were ANY away fans there, never mind 800 out of the 4,800. Even when we scored you couldn't hear a thing. Now please don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting for one minute that our fans were being quiet at Wimbledon - I KNOW that they weren't - just that the bizarre acoustics of football grounds sometimes mean that people don't always hear what you think they hear...

I forgot to mention that last week – it felt bizarre at the time. I was on the same side of the pitch but in the uncovered corner at the other end, and while you knew people would be celebrating you couldn't hear a thing. What did break the silence though was the guy next to me (who moments before the opener had been grumbling about Duffy) loudly celebrated, while I had deliberately tried to keep my support under wraps in the Wimbledon end. I just went with a "good finish by the lad to be fair to him", and left it at that.

If you want, I can call P&G saying we're gonna win the league now we've won 4 on the bounce? I could. But that would make me delusional.

You are delusional if you think RS would interrupt a piggy-wankathon by putting on P & G. :D The other five 'local teams' don't count when big-gob Pearson is in full rant.

Seriously, it was a game typical of many we'll have this season. This is not an easy division but CW seems to be building a side that can handle it. Funny all the talk of Moore's wonder save. It was similar to the one their goalie made against Done at 0-0.

Perfect answer right there. It sounds loud if you're in the thick of it. However, if you sit closer to the away end than the Kop like I do. You can be honest and say, we weren't as loud as people are making out. Apparently you're not a blade if you say that though.

I find it strange that on the very day the kop were louder than they have been for a long time and created a great second half atmosphere, some people are specifically airing a contrary view that we were quiet.

It's either deluded or attention seeking.

Some people don't sit on the Kop so have a totally different perspective on things. My kids are loud as fuck, they give me headache. The next door neighbours can't hear them.

Same as me.

What did we play? 98 mins. How many minutes did we sing for?? 2, 3 ? Seriously, it was quiet. You get the oohs and aahs, but there was no singing apart from the "singing section" of the Kop. I'm on Gangway F on south and its quiet, believe me. Quiet to the point where I can't sing even if I want to because there aren't enough people nearby singing so I'd ultimately be "that bloke" singing on his own.

It's quieter than usual of late because up until 4 games ago, the performances have been shite-r than usual. Its almost like the fans don't trust United, like we won't come shit again. Nobody wants to be that bloke stood singing, getting his hopes up if we implode. Then you look like a wally that got carried away. A few more heartening performances should see that belief grow though. UTB.

Hadn't P. boro. scored 20 goals to our 10 before Saturday ? and 5 of those 10 have come in the last two previous games........

We're on the move.....UTB

I don't sit on the Kop either, so wasn't in the middle of it.

There was a long and loud rendition of 'when the blades go marching in', which grew in volume as the second half went on. There were several other loud songs throughout the second half and on a couple occasions 2 sections of the kop were loudly singing different songs at the same time. A long time since that has happened.

I sit in the same place every home game and can assure you that the noise from the kop that I heard was better than anything since the Spurs game.

What was particularly pleasing was that It didn't stem from a goal fest, or battering the opposition, it seemed to come from a growing belief that the players were finally putting in a shift and playing as a team in the way we expect them to play.

Not bothered about the opinions of the away support on this, but find it disappointing when blades go out of their way to criticise the volume of our support on the day the volume got cranked up for the first time in getting on for two years.

Last season kicked the stuffing out of most fans, the club should be very grateful so many are still turning up.
It may take a while to get that cup run feeling back again, but you'll never please every one.

And the obligatory swipe at the perceived lack of activity from the crowd. I actually thought that we were in fine voice today considering the opposition.

Away supporters in Division 3 need to understand that for them, coming to a ground like Aesthetically Pleasing Downtown Bramall Lane might be a novelty, but for us it's like being the tallest kid in pre-school - not much to shout about.

The noise from the crowd is growing as the desire and heart is showing on the pitch. We're in the sixth season at this level and 19,555 is fucking remarkable. As ever, highest in Division Three and higher than nine games in the Championship - including the 16,786 at Birmingham. (poor show from the Brum fans as I suppose 10k of that crowd were piggies?). Also less than 3k behind Hull v Arsenal and WBA v Spammers in the PL.

The numbers are what counts, not the volume. We're supporters not fucking choirboys. :D

Another perspective on the "did Peterboro deserve a point" debate - reporter on the Posh local rag reckoned the final score was "about right".

But not so sure about the game being a "strangely subdued" one? Far from it, I thought. Suppose they've just got used to witnessing regular goalfests.

Like his comment about our "tremendous professionalism" in seeing the game out though. Another thing that's been sorely lacking in recent seasons which is starting to become a feature under the Wilder regime.

That comment right there is the money shot for me...

Me and my 4yr old sit in the family corner and at times today (all be it with the most excited smile on his face i've seen since he's been dragged to BDTBL) had his hands over his ears we were so vocal! Fully agree the best the fans have been in quite a few years but Mr Wilder has to take full credit for that. He's building a team that will play for our shirt, something we've longed for for some time, a group of players who individually aren't the best but they are going the right way to being the best as a team! It may be a bit early to say but there's been such an improvement the last 4 games that i honestly believe we'll be out of this hole by may!

As for Boro deserving a point? Last night after a few beverages i'd have said yes but after the best saturday nights sleep in a while, i don't think so. Our goalkeeper did what goalkeepers should do, the defence were solid and we put the ball away up top where it counts. Matt Done my MOTM closeley followed by Bash.

Oh when the Blaaaaades.....

19,000+ after 6 seasons in division 3 is staggering to be honest and something many other clubs in this country would kill for. It's superb fan loyalty like this that may just attract the mega-investor to buy the club.

You never know!

Peterborough deserved a point on the balance of play

It was an even game, therefore it's reasonable to say they deserved a point

It's not a boxing match, you can't win on points as we found out at Bolton on the opening day.

The game is judged on goals alone.

We scored they didn't, therefore we deserve 3 points.

They may consider themselves unfortunate that's the way things panned out and I may have some sympathy with them but sometimes that's just the way it happens.

That's a fair and well balanced report from the local rag which just goes to show that the bare statistics do not always tell the full story.

It's goals that count not the number of weak speculative shots from long distance heading in the direction of the goal.

I'm baffled by all the people saying Peterborough deserved something from the game? They didn't.

They can have as much possession & shots on goal as they want. If you can't stick the ball in the net (regardless of how well the keeper / defence are playing), you don't deserve anything. Simple as that.

I couldn't go today and was travelling down the A1 with RS digital radio commentary on. That faded just past Grantham and I had the brainwave of tuning into Radio Cambridgeshire for the end of the second half. They were also quite balanced in their reporting and felt that Posh didn't do enough. In injury time, they were almost complimentary about our professionalism/time wasting and critical of Posh for not attacking anywhere near enough. It was more relaxing hearing their commentary than listening to RS would have been ;-)

The fact that most people have Moore as the MotM, says there must have been more than "weak speculative shots".

I suspect that with our recent goalkeeper history, catching crosses more than 6ft from the goal-line would be enough!
Add on a bit of defence organising and box-commanding and it's odds-on :D

I don't think the result was an unfair one. We restricted Peterborough to speculative shots from outside the box.
In terms of clear cut chances, we edged it: Done's 2 first half chances (of which one he scored) and Duffy's shot after cutting inside were better opportunities than I remember them having.

Stats reckon they had 10 shots on target, at least 6/7 of them were from outside the box, none of them hit with any real purpose.

Re: noise, we were louder versus Oxford for a start. Maybe me sitting on the south side of the Kop for this one had something to do with that.

But we deserved a draw against Bolton

I know how football works, thanks.

I'm not saying they should have had a point for playing well I'm saying with the possession, shots on and general evenness of the match, a point would have been a fair result

Your last sentence pretty much says what you are arguing against.

Let me put it another way, if they had scored an equaliser, would you feel we had been robbed?

There was nothing unfair about the result.

We scored, they didn't.

We had no help from the officials, the goal shouldn't have been disallowed and they had no good goals chalked off.

The rest is just 11 v11 all doing their jobs to the best of their abilities, goalies included.

Ok

Ok

if they had equalised would you have felt robbed?
Nope.

They would have earned the right but that's just my point, they didn't.

We won fair and square.

I remember us once having 28 corners in a game against West Ham and losing 2-0. That's football. The rules say that the team that scores the most goals wins.

If you can't score then you can't win and it's the oppositions job to stop you scoring.

We did that well yesterday. Doesn't make Peterborough unlucky to lose just like we weren't lucky to win.

We earned it.
