Was at the game at their ground in 1990. Didnt we have 2 men sent off? Lost 2-0, ian marshall scored for them in front of us...our fans climbing the fences trying to kick off 🤣

Was also at that cup game when we won 7-2.
We were singing "We are nine men from the Lane", then one of our players went down for treatment so we were singing "We are eight men from the Lane", then Deano pulled one back for us. Sure it was early in the 1991/92 season though.

No, March 1990 was the one we won 2-0 in our promotion season as mentioned earlier in the thread when Simon Webster played up front. That was a night match. We wouldn't have played them in 1990/91 in the league because we went up and they didn't, and then the defeat when we went down to 9 men was early in the 1991/92 season.

Joe Royle seems like one of the biggest twats in football and has a massive hatred of us. Shame really. Anyway bye another tiny Lancashire mill town football team only about another 15 to go!

Had some great memories of Oldham away, that night game we weren't going, but I'd got a spare tenner so put some petrol in the escort and over Holmfirth we went, 40 minutes later were at the ground, somebody paid me in, and the rest was history.

Remember a sunny saturday too where it seemed like the whole of sheff was on that grass banking, but this is years, ago.. And I can't remember the day.. But almost hitting a sheep on the way home..

Made sure Oldham was my sons first away day 17th Oct 2015..

Only bash and sharp still at the club from that game, I kept the program..

Shit yeah, I was looking at it wrong! Was sept 91 when we lost 2-1 at theirs with 2 men off.

One of the best performances I've ever seen from our player going toe to toe with an opposition player was Agana v. Earl Barrett at the Lane in 89. Tony came out on top as he scored and we won 2-0 but both were excellent that night.
I remember that well. It was a great duel.

I always felt Tony’s injury problems started after the exertions he put in that night.

View from Oldham 😕

No idea what’s happening there, they’re in the executive suite. An ex-employer of mine, James Halstead Ltd, holds it’s AGM in that room, the Oldham Event Centre as it’s known. I had no idea Oldham had events 🙂

In recent years, we always seemed to draw at Boundary Park, plenty of 1-1s. It’s also the only ground I ever went to and couldn’t get in, midweek match 1993, (1-1, Jamie Hoyland goal), away end was sold out but I assumed I could buy a ticket for the home end but it was members only. I was back in my local in Stoke for full time, with a matchday programme as proof that I’d made the journey.

Edit: Just read that the club doesn’t own the executive suite, they rent it on matchdays!

Coincidentally the same happened to me at that midweek game in 93.

I don't think anyone's mentioned our 5-1 win there in autumn 1985. I think Oldham actually took the lead after two minutes, and then we scored four before half-time. As the second half was goalless, we were singing "All we are saying, is give us a goal" before the team obliged by making it five.

Be careful after this summer with no money to spend we can quite easily fall down the leagues

Exactly,
I can't understand some of our fans revelling in the misfortune of Oldham, just because one or two of their fans called us Yorkie scum eight years ago.

There's only one thing Sheffield United do worse than spending big money badly, and that's spend small money badly

We have a chairman who held a press conference a few months ago who told us he doesn't care about the fans and we don't have a pot to piss in.

Doesn't augur well.

I was in Oldham at 2pm that day drinking etc ...and I didn't get in ..
I'm pretty sure it was pay on the day so a first come first served basis
I remember the Blades inside the ground singing let them in

Charlie Hartfield and Paul Beesley sent off in 1st half. 2-0 down at half time. Deano pulled a goal back early in 2nd half. A few days later Deano was diagnosed with Glandular fever and missed playing for the next 10 weeks, returned in the 2-0 win against Wendy

Anyone at Oldham Sept 84 2-2 I seem to remember it was their first season with their all weather pitch. Weren’t they the first league team to have it installed back then?

Young striker Tony Philliskirk scored both our goals ………. I think?

Went to that game B58 big away following that day , we along with many others were in there end (both side terraces ) as the local plod had closed the away end due to large following & some trouble in town when the police closed the pubs that some Blades were drinking in . Remember the day well as it was the first time I heard the GCB song , think we came back from 2-0 down with Fishcake getting both of them , they had Micky Quinn & Mark Ward playing for them .
Didn’t have the plastic pitch then think that was a couple of years later .
Boundary Park is a ground I’ve been to many times ok early or late season but fkg Baltic when we went around Xmas one year . Other memorable trips there were the 5-1 under Porterfield’s dads army season ( 85-86 ) and winning 2-0 in 89-90 promotion season . Hope they get back in FL soon ⚔️
