View from Oldham

What I like about all this is opposition fans seem to hate us again, just shows how far we have come.

When you saw some of Roy's 'View From' threads earlier in the season on bladesmad, opposition fans were laughing at us or, even worse, feeling sorry for us. When Sheffield United are getting pity from a Crawley Town fan then that gives you an indication of how far we had dropped!

Long may the hatred and jealousy continue.

We'll be getting a lot of that next season with the Dingles, Chez, possibly Toytown again and maybe even Donny.

Sorry to see that Oldham have been relegated from the league, but their fans always seemed to have an issue with us!

im glad to see the back of Oldham. they were horrible games in League 1. some controversial always happened. were certainly had small man syndrome. also its just another casualty where the old guard of 90s/00s are going while the new guard are getting promoted

I’m sad for them really. They have been shafted like other clubs and I hope they come back up. No doubt if Porter had done the same to us we would hate him too.

Still remember beating them 0-2 away on their plastic pitch. They hadn’t lost on it for about 3000 games. Agana scored a worldy - in my beer fuzzed memory. The away end pens had huge fence that leaned in at the top when you climbed it.

I played on that pitch not long after - no wonder they didn’t lose on it the cheating gits, ball bounced around like an oversized super-ball

Not a popular view, but I liked Oldham. A proper, old, northern football ground. Also home to the friendliest stewards in the Football League.

GLTTOFC. Sorry it’s come to this.

I like Oldham too, good genuine supporters.
They have Man Ud and Man City on their doorstep so anyone who chooses to attend Oldham Athletic matches deserves full respect.

Also its the away ground I've visited the most, joint with Hillsboro, about 6 times.

Deane scored both goals, Agana didnt play

One of the best performances I've ever seen from our player going toe to toe with an opposition player was Agana v. Earl Barrett at the Lane in 89. Tony came out on top as he scored and we won 2-0 but both were excellent that night.

I hated playing against Oldham.. only Port fuckin Vale was a worst location to see football played
First team to win on their plastic. It was ducking magic.
I’d argue that was one of the best places to watch a football match!!!

I didn't realise Warnock had managed Oldham, not all that long before he came to us it turns out.
I had to check to confirm Earl Barrett actually played for us, I had a vague recollection he had but wasn't sure, then he went on to play some games for the other Sheffield team afterwards.

Biggest claim to fame for that club is the 'I told em Oldham' advertisement sign that used to sit on the Bramall Lane end.

Remember their cup runs as a lower league side in the late 80s / early 90s with lanky defender come forward Ian Marshall with the curly Mullet.

Was at the game at their ground in 1990. Didnt we have 2 men sent off? Lost 2-0, ian marshall scored for them in front of us...our fans climbing the fences trying to kick off 🤣

Was also at that cup game when we won 7-2.
