Finish this season at all costs we are too far down the line , and even if its into September - then 2021 season - play each team just once ..

Absolutely key to the integrity of the game that Pigs get a 12-15 point deduction and begin life next season in League one !Surely the football authorities have a duty to not only the football clubs, but to the fans of every club in the land, to ensure that everything possible that can be done, is being done, to relegate Sheffield Wednesday?
I might have a look at this on Wednesday
Denial = head in sand. By May we will be in the thick of it and footy will be far from our thoughtsTo be fair , there is only one option, to complete the season . Which will mean abandon the FA cup, Start the league programmes last week in May finished by the end of June that’s 2 games a week for 5 weeks. New season pushed back two weeks to back end of August giving the players 7 weeks to get rested and start pre-season. Kick the so called winter break into touch and back on track. By May everyone will be pissed off with the carona virus and something else will be the latest news because all the worlds big businesses and money machines will want to start earning again.
Even 500,000 deaths in the uk in a worst case scenarioIn the end money will talk louder than any virus and in football the money is tv.
People will get bored and restless and to avoid social disorder, areas of entertainment will open up again. The virus will still be there but it will be ‘normalized’. Most of us aren’t in high risk categories and we will get it and get better.
I guess this season will have ended by the end of May
I could, of course, be completely fucking wrong, money will talk louder than the deaths of a few thousand people
The virus isn't going to disappear any time soon.
Probably this time next year before football returns, so finish this season from March 21, scrap the 20 - 21 season & start again as normal in August 21.
I'm not saying my preference, just what I think is most likely to happen. So the likes of United will employ players for a whole calendar year, on today's contracts and wages, with nowt coming inbound, and their are effectively doing nowt? I can't imagine any of their contracts having a coronavirus clause in them to reduce wages just in case the country bobbars itssen inside out and all sports are shitcanned.
And we'd have to presumably either pay each ST holder a refund, or project no ST income for Mar 21 onward?
And United's bank balance will just remain happily buoyant.
Are you Kevin McCabe by any chance?
pommpey
Football is an irrelevance as things stand.
UTB
for each league have a Royal rumble for all the managers and where you are currently placed means what position you come out in the Rumble ie. Farke would come out first and Klopp 20th
the first 3 over the ropes are relegated and last one standing are champions and follows the usual relegation /promoton rules in the lower leagues rumbles also
i reckon our Chris would be def be one of the last standing - would feel a little sorry for t'old Roy but no doubt he would be looking for Zara to do something at every opportunity to help him !
I didn’t suggest playing each other only once btw!The problem with finishing the season and then just impacting next season is a logistical nightmare of a shortened season next season. The idea that each club plays each other once is a nonsense how would you balance out home and away advantage? The previous season other than promotion or relegation is not supposed to impact a following season so how would you decide who fairly plays who once at home and away? What if we drew Liverpool, Man City, Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd away along with Relegation candidates away and the middle clubs at home? But other clubs got a more favourable home draw. Secondly by messing about with next season you would be messing about with World Cup qualifiers also. We would all agree that clubs are first but all complain when England do shit in international competitions. This season has to be resolved within it's self and a cut off date needs to be agreed as well as a decision as to what transpires at that cut off date. Unless there is no other way next season has to be as normal.

I think we could finish this seasons games, possibly, if we could resume again by June and then play 2/3 games a week. Not ideal I know and it may push back next season.
My position is that you can’t start a new version of the same competition till you’ve finished the current one, otherwise you devalue the competition as a whole. Because who’s to say there won’t be another pandemic next season if we did? Then we’d be in an even more ridiculous situation.
Quite honestly I’d rather wait till the time is right to finish this season, even if that takes till March 2021 to resume it.
Sorry I was picking the playing each other once from elsewhere it wasn't part of your quote. My point really was that one season has to be self contained. That's why we may have to finish this season as it is, as even playing behind closed doors could be dangerous for transmission, eg I've been told to work from home in an office of 10 whereas a contact sport of 22 able to continue seems unlikely. So if that's the case the leagues have to work out what to do, I believe the EFL have decided to finish their season no matter what so the Prem will then be forced to play out the relegation games in some way or risk being sued by the promoted teams.
Well you do have a point but as I said it no matter what they decide there will be winners and loses .
True when West Hams Karen Brady (name might not be correct)saying lets make the season void it is so obvious she is thinking about the position her club is in.What would her thoughts be if sky and BT said they want their money back off the clubs?would her mind be changed? If the matches were to be played behind closed doors would fans crowd in to pubs to watch ?If games where screened on normal tele how would Sky and BT feel after paying all the money for the rights to be screened just on their service? All these questions need answering. Not easy.just restart the season when this has washed through and finish it. If we have to compress next season then let’s do that. It shouldn’t be difficult but people have done their level best to put self interest first and logic second.
As much as that sounds sensible at first glance, it leaves clubs having to meet all their expenses and paying astronomical wages without a single penny of income.I would sooner abandon next season than null and void this one. Nobody has vet invested any hard work, emotion, hard earned money into 2020/21.....So fuck that season off, leave it a “fallow year” like they do at Glastonbury. Resume the year after.

Correct but in these awful times money still is the priority to these multi million pound organisations .As you suggest surely the welfare of players should be paramount but some how I doubt it will be.I am sure such as Karen Brady is thinking about the position of her club and not the players.I would say that season ticket holders and ticket purchasers should be able to see it through the club's own sites and also screened by Sky and BT for general watching but banned from pubs and public places.
However it seems unfair on players to put them at risk in this way just for the Premier League or Sky's requirements and also therefore the players families and other contacts.
