Oh I love it. Only lost because they replicated our crap rather than their own sophisticated, finely honed style. I take it they were only attempting long throws into the box because we were doing it. They'd never normally debase themselves like that. It was just sheer chance that they knew they had someone who could take long throws.
..and he wasn’t very good at them !!

'What we played today was a championship team. A team bottom of the table, low on confidence, who average 18 shots against them every match for the last 5mths and have a goal difference of -29 before today'

No, that's what you WOULD have played a week ago. Keep up cheery, cheeky cockney.

Why do fans of other teams have this impression of Wilder as a manager who manages "physical" or "bully" teams?

I'm struggling to think of a single player you'd think of as physical in our entire time under him, until we signed Mcburnie who likes to play up to that tag. Half our team were under 5'8"!

Obviously I know the reason. If he had a Spanish name and accent it wouldn't be the case, but it still annoys me when I read it.

Fluke and a cross, Brentford fans continuing their long history of being deluded southern wankers.

Spent years being insufferable in the championship and after a couple of years in the Prem now talk pompously about playing championship teams. You have done a great job and well done for your success but just remember the many other teams before you who did the same and then sank back to the lower leagues. A bit of humility does not hurt.

Thanks Roygbiv it is so good to be able to bring myself to read those again.

I wonder how many comments were from the real Brentford fans who were there in League one and the Championship? A nice new ground and a couple of seasons in the Premier league seems to have attracted quite a few wankers to follow them.

Liverpool and these having off days against us. Reminds me of the last rise we had with Wilder. Long may it continue.
The difference in us like the way Bogle is "stepping in" to challenges and not backing off is why other teams are struggling to play against us. Keep that intensity up and we'll be fine.

When I lived in London I used to go to Griffin Park occasionally. They were proper fans with a proper ground with a pub on each corner.

Seriously, when was the last time we were actually an 'up and at 'em, physical side'? Wilder's sides have been footballing teams, we haven't been like that probably since Warnock or perhaps Blackwell.

Apart from that, I think they are mainly quite reasonable comments. You'd be pretty pissed off losing and not scoring against a side that was bottom of the league and conceding goals for fun.

I'm sure it will make them feel better when we nick a 1-0 at Chelsea next week.

From when we played them opening day a few years ago when we got up to the Champ and talking to a few of them in the pub - they were the exactly the same.

Thanks Roy.

Top tune choice, & a pleasure to return to View From with the warm glow of a win & mardy opposition fans bleating about their bad luck.

They say we are a championship team…Well that must leave them as a League One outfit

They’ve been inhaling the fumes from Heathrow Airport

Thanks Roy

I’ve always preferred Barnet to Brentford, so I’m very pleased with the result.

That’s not entirely the reason I’m pleased.

This notion we shithoused it and made it battling is nonsense and lazy reporting.

We played better football and looked more fluent with the ball and created lots if chances with moving up the pitch. Brentford in contrast ended up relying on long throws and set plays and still crested next to nothing.

The weather argument is pathetic too as despite the wind/rain they went longer than us - certainly 2nd half.
The weather was the same for both teams. It’s really pathetic when that’s thrown in as an excuse.

JOC was very much a unit who could put someone on their arse and along with JLT they are probably the only real physical players we have had under Wilder. JLT doesn't look that physical either he just is or has to be to compete.

I wouldn't even say McBurnie is that sort of player either rather than he has had to become more physical due to the rest of the squad not being so.

A real mixed bag there.
“Lucky to get nil”
“A worldy” or “A fluke goal”
“Never a red” or “Should have been off”
And how they can say we didn’t create much in the 2nd half… 3-0 wouldn’t have flattered us.
I do quite like their manager though.
Agree, Their manager made decent comments and didn’t blame the ref, weather or make excuses.Said it was a tight game which it was and they needed to be better on front of goal. Didn’t make it all about the injured player they have missing for the first game this season either.

Or Maupay purposely getting in Wes's way when he was trying to send the ball only to have the audacity to complain when one actually hit him.
Couldn’t believe the ref booked Wes for time wasting either. I’m sure he only had hold of the ball for about 5 seconds!

Yeah. They've achieved remarkable things since promotion. Yep they've come up and not just made up the numbers or aimed for the lofty heights of staying up. But listening to them, they talk they're the long term prem fixture, having to lower themselves to play championship scum and that it's been decades since they were down there.

I'd be intrigued to see them in a proper relegation scrap. Something tells me the fans would lose it
