Roy's View From... View From Blackburn

Ta Roy, nice reading that and her majesty has now excused your late appearance report last weekend.

About the best set of opinions I can recall from opposing supporters.

It shows just how well we're playing, as well as how much progress we've made. Well done Wilder and Knill, not forgetting the players. Disciplined, tenacious, and with the talent to make the hard work count. Blackburn were given a lesson last night, any other view would be misguided and if someone chose to suggest that they were at the races, well all any of us would do is scratch our heads wondering what was going on. Quite simply, to quote a Blackburn supporter, it was like a home game for the Blades. It doesn't get any better than those comments. Read each one carefully, they're priceless, and worthy of how far we've come.

Thanks Roy.

The Mail (Martin Samuel I might add) is enthusing about Messi's performance at Wembley and how fans should celebrate the opportunity of seeing him as he approaches the twilight of his career.

Fans in the Championship should take every opportunity to go along and watch Billy Sharp.

An absolute masterclass in finishing.

Well done to all the team and all those fans representing us last night.

Keep going Billy and smash as many records as you can.

I think we'll start seeing a difference now, in that other teams are less likely to see us as newly-promoted disruptive upstarts in the division, and more simply come to respect us as an established, accomplished team.

Excluding a few notable exceptions of course..
Blackburn, having just come up from L1 themselves, have the benefit of appreciating just how much work goes into crafting a side like ours without spending huge amounts, which I think is why we're seeing such intelligent, thoughtful comments here. Respect to them for that.

i think that happened half way through last season tbf ;)

Cheers Roy. The nicest set of comments I’ve read in a long time!!. UTB
They were definitely the best so far - which was exactly what I also said about Saturday's comments from Millwall
Something weird is going on!

Brilliant Roy as usual. Such effusive comments too from the Red Rose lot. My first granddaughter was born this week and she has bought the laaaaads good luck. To use a footballing quote I’m over the moon.

Wow!
Cheers Roy, and cheers Rovers fans too I guess.

Yep we absolutely dominated that game.

New chant for Coutts - thanks to their drummer - who I couldn't see cos Ken Jnr and I at top left of stand.

What nobody has mentioned as yet is the size of the Ewood park pitch. Far larger playing area than we set out at Bramall Lane. The pitch is actually suited to a channel ball and pace - their only forward threat was a result of such play.

Took us a little while in the first half to get to grips with the dimensions of the pitch related to our normal game. Once we did then we bossed it.

The score could have been at least double with the chances we created.

Every single substitution added another positive change.

Great to be there for Coutts return :D

Didn't get back til 01:30 and driven up to 500 miles in the day - but it was so worth it.

Congrats!

And his oppo. Ian Ladyman has this to say about Barca. Or is it Wilder's Blades?

'The use of the ball has changed a little since Pep Guardiola placed his creed before his players...but much remains the same.
The angles, the slickness and the availability of team-mates to receive possession and use it.
Equally, the work remains. The willingness to work harder than an opponent, both in possession and out.
Barcelona remain angels with dirty faces, and maybe that's the biggest compliment of all.'

Cheers Panchero!

I have to say, watching last nights game, I don't think Blackburn Rovers have too much to worry about. Yes, they have just lost their unbeaten home record, but they actually played some good stuff, they just came up against a Blades team on form and on fire.

I think that some of their fans saying that we are the team they aspire to be, is a really nice complement.
