[VIDEO] Higdon at MK Dons

I love how we seem to have this weight based performance system. Higgo comes on and scores and looked leaner (obviously leaness means goals) but the other week when he was shit, its because hes a fat piece of shit. Same goes for Baxter. He didnt play well against Crewe and is therefore fat. Wait till he scores a 30 yard screamer against Barnsley. He'll be accused of being too skinny.

He did really well to get any power on that header, he seemed to be facing the wrong way and stretching and it was a mixture of placement and power. I don't think we have anybody else at the cliub who could do that (cf Scougall's pathetic attempt at a header earlier with an open goal). For the second, it was good control and a first time shot.

Neither of them are likely to win goal of the season, but they're good instinctive striker's goals.

Yeah i wasn't entering into the Higdon debate in anyway, i was just incredibly surprised that the defending was non existent. acceptable perhaps at other points during the game, but defending a corner in the 93rd minute, having just conceded a later equaliser, they just needed to focus.

Higdon of course did his bit and took both goals well, but the winner was amazing to see nobody near him putting in any type of challenge.

And long live that sort of second best attitude. Seriously, you and I have witnessed the type of destructive scrutiny that all supporters apply to their teams. It's always based on the fact that other teams are better than us, that we're slow to respond, that we're this, or that, or whatever tactically negative aspect of play you could select. So last night it was another team's chance to show that they hadn't come out of the stalls, and we were, I'm pleased to say, able to capitalise on this confusion. I watched Higdon's run for his header. Over the space of a few yards, the hustle and bustle of defenders attempting to better their mark was a lost battle, as they appeared to watch the man rather than the ball. So a bad night for MKD and a joyful night for the red and white wizards.

Great video's Foxy, can just about spot myself bottom right :D

Well done Higgo, he took some fair stick around me for not getting across his marker or anticipating JCR's peach of a ball just before his goal which I feel McNulty would have finished off as he'd have been in there BUT if your gonna answer your critics that's the way to do it

To be honest it looked like that kick up the backside from the fans moaning at him for not anticipating the cross spurred him on to work a lot harder to prove them wrong.

To me he seems a player that needs that 'tough love' approach rather than a 'arm round the shoulder' approach that Nigel seems to have given him which is no disrespect to Clough as he obviously approaches each player differently depending on how he feels they'll react, for instance he gives McNulty a hard time with the 'tough love' approach but he only does it to get the best out of him & I'd like to see him do the same with Higdon.

Think his celebration after the first was more of 'put that in your pipe and smoke it' which to me is fair play to the lad as he must know some Blades (me included) don't think he put's enough work rate in & the only way to answer those critics is to keep scoring goals.

Keep up the good work & the goals flowing Mr Higdon (and if you could just work that little bit harder it'd be much appreciated ;))

Two good finishes, although the defending for the winner was park standard at best.

As a slightly negative aside, it may only be me but I find the constant singing of the (frankly, shit) "Everywhere we go..." chant really dull.

It's a poor chant. Everyone else sings it as well; including Wendy. Prefer Shorehan Boys, Red Flag, We Are Bladesmen, etc.

Fantastic videos Foxy - very much appreciated here in Cyprus - along with the tweets ( I was listening to bladesplayer but I am afraid I got so pee'd off with Keith Edwards I turned it off and just followed the tweets). Great for Higgy to pop 2 in and a nice assist for Jose for the first ( much prefer him in midfield ). The thing for me this season is the squad though - we seem to be able to survive the odd player being out much more effectively than we did last season.

Hats off to the travelling 1400 bladesmen :)

Maybe it was the angle I was watching from, but I thought that cross should've been put away by Murphy at the back post. He seemed to not react and anticipate the cross and was slow in on it.

They weren't helped by the goalie though in fairness, you can just imagine them defending the corner, "That's no problem, oh fuck what happened, oh bolox, goal"

Murphy was coming in behind Higdon from what I recall but was definitely Higdon who just didn't gamble on the cross when he should have done, think that's what Higdon is referring to here when he says he should have had a few more -

Anything that stops us singing that awful 'SUFC, and we hate Wednesday' song is fine by me.

We have many great songs, but they never get sung because of the one you mention. One dimensional if you ask me.It sounds all right when we sing it after a goal but that's about it.

No need for Higgo to have tough love from Nigel, the supporters are doing just fine:-)
