Was looking forward to seeing him play in a proper game for the first time.

Might sound harsh but he was shockingly bad.

For a big lad he was pitiful on crosses and long throws, slow to react for the first goal, and turned sideways and made himself as small as possible for the third.

As bad a keeping performance as I've seen for many years.

I'd be embarrassed to see a performance that bad in a park tbh. Zero strength or determination. Weak af. terrible.

Looking to bring a keeper in?

Can you imagine Verrips/ Foderingham for a full season if we don't replace Ramsdale
Easily. It’s called relegation, just like when Simonsen played a huge part in getting us relegated and then costing us about 12 points in the ched evans season

What does this lad need to do to get a game, if Ramsdale was an outfield player he’d have been dropped months ago....Rammers is what chocolate is to being a fire guard...useless. Worst 1st choice keeper we’ve had..that’s including Simonsen.

Give Verrips a go in the cup games at the very least.

Agree totally but unfortunately the stubborn Mr Wilder will not allow poor performances to get the better of his inept signings.

Wilder won't drop him as would be an admission that Wilder made a mistake.

I've been saying the same thing since the start of season, why Wilder brought him in I guess we'll never no..18mill down swannie for a championship keeper at best...

He's an absolutely bog standard professional goal keeper.

No better than Verrips, Foderingham or Moore.

He doesn't consistently make unbelievable saves.
He doesn't command his area
His catching is questionable
His footwork is awful
His distribution is bang average.
He unexplainably can be lobbed from 3 yards

I've said it elsewhere but Wilder is playing him because he blew £18m on the kid and is now hoping he'll come good to save face.

Put a pissed off Kop behind him next season and he's going to make George Long look like Lev Yashin.

Yes, he's apparently been a revelation in Holland with Emmen, a Dutch friend of mine has told me Verrips will be a Netherlands international once he finds a settled club. They rate him very highly in his homeland.

We've definitely treated him badly. He got injured by Bryan ffs and did nothing wrong and head to the back of the heap.

We'll end up selling him for £500,000 and he'll go on to be a Dutch international.
Well they've aged well.

Except the third, where Verrips shut his eyes and turned away, the goals were identical. Set piece bombed into packed 6 yard box. Didn't put up a defence.
For Cal Robinson's goal he got himself into ruck and couldn't get arms raised never mind get airborne.
Learned that lesson and stopped on line for the next one. Let defenders try to deal with it and made the save.
This isn't our Blades.

It was shocking. BUT in fairness he was thrown to the wolves tonight. No defence, no confidence, probably only found out he was playing yesterday vs a top 6 team that just spam crosses
Agree with this.

He's a great kid and I don't want to go in on him but Rammers has proper fucked us tonight!

WBA play neanderthal football which is their prerogative but Verrips would have been expecting a night slicing the half time oranges and warming up the strikers. No matter how professional anyone is, being thrown in last minute is a horrendous preparation.

The fact the team in front of him gave him no protection on set pieces further compounded a terrible first league start.

He can't be this bad. If Leeds or Liverpool was Hendo's first game we'd have been equally aghast.

We probably should get another keeper but it would be very unfortunate if this is the first and last we see of Verrips given the patience Rammers received only to pull a sicky on the eve of a crucial 6 pointer.

How close was he to playing for us in the premier league, can you imagine if he played at Liverpool or Man City. The horror show tonight showed just how ill equipped he is to play championship football, don’t delay, get rid,it’s just a pity it’s taken all this time to find out that he just isn’t good enough.

I’m not sure this can be laid at rammers feet the club have sold him he’s not pulled a sicky. The club have chosen not to play him in a match to protect that deal that’s not on the player. Let’s not make things up about him he hasn’t pulled Beattie flu or a Maguire sunburn to force through the deal and make united sell he’s honoured his contract been professional and the club have concluded a deal.

As for verrips we can be as patient as we like he’s a poor keeper is he as poor as last night on average? probably not. will he cost us points consistently throughout the season? yes. If united don’t go out and bring in a replacement for ramsdale then it would show loud and clear where the expectations for this season really are internally.

Genuine question how many do people think we’d have lost by with Rammers in the net? How big a difference would he have made? This is not a defence of Verrips in any way I’m just curious what people think because there was much more than the keeper wrong with that and as we know crosses aren’t Aaron’s greatest strength either

It’s impossible to gauge. There are so many different variables had Ramsdale been in net that it essentially changes the entire game. This was probably amplified in terms of how seemingly last minute his exclusion was and how that could have potentially disrupted the mentality of the entire team, let alone the defence.

Sk to answer your question: I don’t think we’d have been as abject as a collective, but of course, I have no way to qualify that.

Honestly believe Rammers saves the first and third goal, and doesn't make a pig's ear of the second.

It was just the point being mentioned that Rammers wasn't in the right frame of mind by Jokanovic. He's still our player. It wasn't mentioned he was left out to avoid injury etc it was stated Aaron didn't feel in the right mind to play.

Feel sorry for Verrips. Not a good start or to stake a claim.
He didn't do well with their long throws, he was getting drawn into the front post battle and losing every time.
As a keeper you either need to win those or stay put otherwise there's a chance of an open goal for the opposition which is exactly what happened.
That third goal was poor too.

In normal play he did command the area reasonable enough. On that showing though I hope we have this Roma keeper lined up!

Agree with this.

You’re assuming he was ‘thrown in at the last minute’. You’ve no idea when he was told he’d be playing. Either way that is irrelevant, a good player is capable of handling that situation.

We'll never know, but as Ramsdale is poor at coming over players in front of him to claim/punch the ball I don't think he'd have been any more effective dealing with those long throws. He might have done better with the one on one. But as people say, Ramsdale had some shocking games last season and Arsenal are giving us £24m for him so keep Verrips, they might be back for him in January...

Shipping 4 goals always focuses attention on the goalie and we all know our problems are all over the park. We need to get behind the lad Saturday as he is the best we have got right now.

If he plays like that at the Lane, I fear the worse,
and if the team play like that I think HRH had better swop his turban for a tin hat .......

Rammers dont pick the team
