The day we sign players for their looks is the day we fall out of the league, cracking player.
Wasn't he on Wendys books at one time ?

I know most on here dislike/hate him but I would like to see him get his 200th goal for Leicester on Sunday in his 500th appearance for them, thats some record and you have to admit he has been an absolute bargain of a signing. As long as he doesn`t finish up with them lot (unlikely).

I actually think he plays his part well as the panto villain of Blades fans. He makes me laugh. He's certainly not offensive and i've got huge respect for him giving out the banter in the often stale world of football. He's amongst a list of pigs that i'd actually buy a beer for and would love to chat to if I met him.

As a player though, you have to question why he was ever released from the pigs when he's been such a talent over the last few years, perhaps he was a late bloomer (Ian Wright was the same). He can still bang goals in and you'd ordinarily be mad to not want him at your club, even if its to come off the bench.

But, heres the thing. He would go down hugely in my estimation of him as a pig if he were to sign for us. Plenty have done it before and had great success, Madine perhaps the most similar, but Vardy is just different, He gives it out because he's a scruffy Pig fan, not because he gets the rivalry and has played there. And that changes it for me.

I'd love to see him at another club in whatever league were in, knowing that he's going to give it the big un and some of our lot wanting to throttle him. We need that edge in the game.

I'd be happy if the scruffy, piggy twat never scored another goal in his life, but he was obviously a bargain for Leicester.

I don't really care to be honest! He's a legend there regardless.

I believe he was offered to both united and Wednesday by his agent when he was at Fleetwood but neither club wanted to pay £1m for a conference level striker.

I also heard he was set to move to Wednesday when Leicester got promoted as Leicester weren't sure he'd make the step up, but Chansiri wasn't keen on the deal 😂. The rest is history!

Agreed. I don't believe for a second any one of us in his position wouldn't be doing the same to Wednesday fans. Specially since he seems to have a taste for scoring at the Lane.

I quite like Vardy and you have to give him props for remaining at Leicester when during his 15 minutes of fame he had offers from big clubs, he's certainly cemented himself in their history.

Also agree with him at the Lane, no chance he'd entertain that idea, be like Sharp or Wilder going there. Although I would absolutely laugh my plums off if we put in a random bid and he accepted. The meltdown in S6 would be cataclysmic.

Couldn't really care less that he's a wednesday fan, unfortunately they do exist. He winds us up and that's exactly what footy should be about. Makes it far more fun and enjoyable.

He'll be off to the MLS to pay his wife's debts off!

Lad is 38. He's been poor for much of this season. Still can play a role but he'd cost us twice as much as any other player in wages and I doubt he could start regularly/successfully at the top level for a team like ours.

Along with Kevin Davies, he's probably the biggest Sheffield team miss when it comes to local lads we had on our books.

What was the total bill? £3 Million or something

Vardy's been on £140k a year, so its around 6 months work at Leicester for him

A quick google and his Net Worth is £58million.... Not sure he really needs to work too long to get those bills paid off.

"...As a player though, you have to question why he was ever released from the pigs..."

I heard that it was because he was deemed to small and too thin to make it in the pro game, by the pigs, when he was about 16. He obviously grew a bit taller, in later years, although he never really filled out much.

I really enjoyed watching that Leicester team win the league. Vardy, Mahrez, Kante etc were a breath of fresh air and fair fucks to him for sticking around after Mahrez and Kante took the big moves.

I don’t mind him giving it the big-un in front of the kop either. If I’d ever scored against Wednesday I’d have gone full adebayor and sprinted the full length of the pitch to celebrate in front of them.

I really like him! Excellent player and, like Sharp, very happy to give the fans a bit back when they are on his back. Also incredibly loyal to Leicester. I would have him at the Lane for a season, in either division.
The Wednesday link is tenuous at best, I suspect his loyalty will always be to Leicester.

We missed out on Maradona, we wouldn't pay the fee.
Wednesday missed out on a prolific goal poacher, wouldn't pay the fee.
Sheffield clubs in a nutshell.

I think maths genius, you'll find it's just over 21 years to repay 3 million at 140k per year, assuming he lives on zero, has no expenses etc. Jeez

Players like Vardy make football more interesting to watch as a neutral. Someone who ain’t afraid to give it some to the opposition fans whether he’s the home or away side - especially when they’ve got the ability to back up the cockiness. It’s just makes good viewing.

Like him or not, players like Vardy are a dying breed. There were plenty of them back in the early - mid 2000’s, but the character has been slowly drained out of the game to favour media trained zealots. It’s a shame to see as that little bit of needle gave the atmosphere inside stadiums a bit of extra buzz.

Note to myself, must get the little one doing keepy ups in the garden every night 🤣

If you're from the pork pie thread you'd not have made it the full length of the pitch!

And on the exact date he signed for them.
