If he does not start the game against QPR will you think what was the point of taking him on,he's here just for insurance,he is still being schooled.

Genuine question, if the war stops and sanctions are lifted, does he go back to Rubin Kazan?

Saturday was shit all around but Davies was awful. He looks so uncomfortable on the right. I'd hope to see this lad if Basham is still not available

I think a 3-5-2, more than any other formation has to have balance in order to work properly. Didn't enjoy seeing Davies, or Osborn playing on the wrong side in recent games. It's like going out for a pint and drinking it left-handed. Just wrong.

Heckys press conference think he said he hadn’t played for weeks & he had only been training on his own prior to joining . Might not be match fit but I hope he is soon as we Ned a right sided centre back quickly

After 30th if June, yes.

Unless FIFA decide they want in on sanctioning Russia and take all their foreign players away for nothing.

No it's not.I wouldn't drink a pint any other way.If I did I'd spill it everywhere

Absolutely has to play.

It reminds me of an anecdote of when my Grandad played cricket. He was playing games for Derbyshire at some level possibly 2nds and they moved house so he wanted to play.

He got put as reserve for the second team in Wales. So he went to play for Waleswood instead. They were more than greateful having an ex-Derbyshire player on their books and he took great delight in carting Wales all around the ground and knocking their stumps out.

Well, at the moment, we're Wales and not Waleswood.

Davies was poor and his decision making on the right cost us. Uremovic has to start else it was a completely pointless move.

If it was around 50,s or 60,s probably played against my father he played for Treeton and Todwick (in the days of Raymond barbers famous underarm bowling) 😁

That might have been my Dad's time playing cricket for Waleswood to be honest, what you mention. He used to open the batting, though he did have a spell in Hong Kong around 1959 when he did national service.

My Grandad died when I was 8 and I think he must have been about 80 which would mean he was born around 1904 so I'm thinking this would have been more late 1920s and 1930s or even during WW2 when he was in the Home Guard.

Some great stories from those eras where there were less gadgets and distractions and people created their own entertainment. My Grandad used to have the Bar Pub before it became a Chinese restaurant and the Angel at some time, which has also probably become something else now.

He's not match fit
He's never played in the English league
He's never played in a top league
He doesn't know the team
I'm assuming he's never played in a system like ours?
Does he speak English to footballer level?

Just throwing him in is dangerous to negligent. Only the coaching staff will know how he looks like he can cope with the pace and intensity.

I assume he's here to cover or maybe come in the last few days.

We saw what happened with Goode. A player who had the experience and all the attributes yet was rusty.

It takes players a while to get to know our system. If we're not really playing overlapping CBs then it's less of a shock but it still takes a little time.

The question is, would he be worse than the alternatives?

With all due respect, what was the point in signing him then?

And are you saying the Championship is a top league but Russian isn't? I mean, Spartak, CSKA, Zenit would all walkover this division...

He may not be match sharp but then again a number who hadn't played Internationals weren't on Saturday. Davies has been out for a few games and it showed Baldock has been out longer. Goode had been in Brentfords reserves playing a few first team games and carrying an injury before he came to us.

Uremovic has been playing first team football regularly and is Rubens captain. Last played on March 7th. Are we saying our fitness and conditioning methods are so bad we can't get a player ready to step into the first team with 2 weeks of training. He has to play otherwise we may as well have gone with Gordon and Lopata as cover and saved on the wages.

There's no point signing anyone unless that player is good enough to step into the team and do a job. We're shoehorning people in all over the place and it's getting us nowhere at the moment.

Uremovic is a full international for Croatia and was regularly playing for a club that finished 4th in a decent league last season so I'd suggest he must be up to the job at Championship level.

Hecky needs to be less cautious and play him with Egan and Davies.
That could easily be the best back 3 in the league

He does seem to speak English well from the interview he did.

But i broadly agree with you. Most importantly Heckingbottom watches training and speaks to the players privately... so i THINK he knows better than a forum poster, whether this player is ready to start.

I didn't get the impression from Heckingbottom that Uremovic is close to being up to speed.
Might be a couple of weeks at least til we see him starting (unless circumstances necessitate it).

I think Hecky came in and restored some Wilder style cohesion to the group when he took over. New manager bounce maybe. We benefited from that. But are we now beginning to see a very very cautious management style emerge? (Which of course is totally pointless in this division as evidenced by our previous managers)

The risk of Uremovic performing a lot worse than the other defenders did in the last match is likely to be low. They were absolute tripe. Uremovic was 'out of our price range' and 'someone our scouts were aware of for many years' - so it sounds like he might be quite good. Or are they just blowing smoke at us?

I get that you don't necessarily drop players after one bad game but we don't have that many games left to play with before people will be questioning why changes havent been made to try and improve things and try and get us in the play offs.

Tactically Hecky has been bossed in most away games, I just hope his good home set ups continue and I would say that a defender making a home debut with the crowd backing may also reduce the risk further?

If we arent prepared to risk him then it was a pointless signing.

I'm not sure what you mean by "footballer level"?

But from his interviews he seems to speak/understand English pretty well

I'm fairly certain he can manage "footballer level" English...

"erm, yeah, y'know" 😂
"kick it into row X"
"BREAK HIS FUCKING LEGS"
"Open the gate and let the Bull loose"

etc

Cover? What happens is Egan gets injured, for instance? Or even Gordon.

I don't watch Russian league football but is it played at the same pace as English football? That's my point. Usually takes players coming from abroad a few weeks to get up to speed. And, we play a particular way. I'm not saying he won't play, but for most players they wouldn't come in, not having played a first team game for 3-4 weeks and slot straight in at a new club. Unless you're desperate.

We have been crap defensively, but we only lost to a deflected goal against Stoke.

He speaks very good english, and his last meaningfull match/game was March 7th.
Due to the long Russian winter break he’s only played two league games in 2022 though.

I’m not in the ‘don’t play him’ camp at all mind, just think it’s fair that he might not be anywhere near match fit straight for 90mins straight out of the gate.

When i have seen any of the later stages of any Euro comps which has included teams that are just coming out of a winter break, they all look fit as fook and rarin to go.
