He would probably want players in the Mitrovic mould and a bigger squad over haul for an immediate promotion return bid.

Bessin seems to me to be a longer term project with maybe an eye on bringing through some of our Youth prospects, no matter what league (Champ or Prem) we will be in.

Just my opinion like and I could be completely wrong!
I’m all for bringing through the kids and I think youth development has to be a key part of our long term strategy but it’s absolutely imperative we get promoted before the parachute payments run out. Otherwise we’re in danger of becoming a bit like Brentford, always having to sell our best players to balance the books and missing out on promotion.
Isn't our plan to go out and find the “next Mitrovic” from abroad rather than keep sticking to signing players who are already established in the English leagues?

Id much rather have a manger for 4/5 years then shit or bust

But any new manger is shit or bust considering most of any relegated squad would be sold if they don’t get promotion 1 maybe 2 seasons
David Weir was a long term project to change the mentality and style of the club ,if someone comes in trying to play that type of football it wont work. We arent that kind of club.

Lukahay came out of semi retirement to take the pigs job so the comparison doesn’t stand up.

Christian Gross may have been a better comparison of what can go wrong... But Daniel Farke is a comparison of what can go right.
Farke took Norwich down. Maybe Weir is a better comparison.

Yer know what? Reading all these posts is already getting me really excited about next season.(I know I'm easily pleased). Now that CW is history I'm looking forward to our next appointment (hopefully Jokanovic or Blessin) and seeing what style of play they adapt, alongside the type of players they may bring with them, but hopefully keeping the the core of our team together after getting rid of the deadwood.
One thing I am sure about though, is that I'm more confident we have the Prince overseeing our future development rather than McCabe.

its evidently about time we changed then
Your opinion ,personally I fucking hate European type football out from the back ,I sincerely hope this guy doesnt play that way if he comes in ,he wont last 5 minutes.

Yes agreed.
So that gives us 2 seasons in order to overhaul the squad.

Maybe 3 if some of the other higher earners leave before the parachute payments stop.

We can't compete in wages or fees for top end Championship or lower PL players. And maybe Slavisa would require a budget (for players such as Mitrovic) that we simply cannot reach.

The other alternative would be to identify these players long before they make their way to England and sign them for 2m instead of 20m.

The question is.. Say the Belgian guy becomes manager. Will the fans become restless if progress is not instant?

PA has already stated he doesn't like changing managers. Mainly due to the squad needing constant changes. So the next manager will likely need to have a vision for the next 4-5 years.

When asked who I wanted to see as the next manager I replied... I don’t know, but I do want to see an up and coming young manager from the continent. So I’m nailing my colours to the mast and saying this IS what I want.
To move forward as a club we need to broaden our horizons. We need to stop thinking and acting like a 2nd tier club. There’s a wealth of footballing talent out there... let’s use it!

Yes, it could go either way of course. Will have to dig up some Oostend highlights.

Most fans want winning football, usually at any cost. The means by which it is achieved usually doesn't bother most people.
Recent experience in the championship with the Sheffield clubs has suggested that Blackwell/Pulis percentage football approach where the ball is in the air most game waiting for the long throw is crap to watch and ineffective too.
I agree he needs to be pragmatic and get the wins rolling in, I'm not bothered how, its been pretty hard season watching Wilder's team grind out defeat after defeat

Can we establish the most important thing if he does come here: it’s pronounced BlessAN not BlessIN.

That won't stop the headline writers. Biggest gift to subeditors since India's wicketkeeper-batsman was On Fire last month.

The Prince has interviewed 3 managers for the job Jokanovic included but it would seem Blessin is the favourite and is very likely to be confirmed if terms are agreed with Oostende. He will likely be announced after the end of the Belgian season on the 18th April and there is a slim chance he could take the last chunk of matches

Extremely highly regarded within the Red Bull set up and RB Salzburg are also interested if Jesse Marsch takes the Leipzig Job (unlikely)

It would seem lots of movement on the player front also Berge will be leaving to the highest bidder and Coulibally will be coming with Blessin for the new season
With my Blessin 🤣🤣

The Blessin guy certainly sounds & looks the part doesn't he. Would be an interesting one. I'd be concerned that he's never managed big egos though. Some of our young lads are earning big money, there's no equivalent that he'll have been responsible for in Belgium.

I'm sure there are a few ego,s in every squad wether it be Germany Belgium or England

Surely that was the same with Wilder

Ego in French is 'amour-propre' although there is a slang version 'mousset'

Players with obvious egos/attitude issues we've had with Wilder

Ravel Morrison
John Lundstram
Lys Mousset

They worked out well haha

Watched last 20 mins of Oostende game today on TV,lost 2-0 ,1 red card, punch, if he first choice,God help us.
How can you judge a manager on 30 minutes of football ? On that basis no one in the football league will go anywhere near Wilder ever again based on the last 30 plus league games

Was going to say the same. Especially after they've likely found out within the last few days that the manager who transformed them is leaving.. some people baffle me 🤷‍♂️

I think the one thing we do need going forward is a philosophy which is passed on from manager to manager.

Yeah, I remember an interview Knill did with BT I think, when he came to watch us with Wilder it was something like "United fans don't deserve this, they want attacking football where you give it a go", so find that mentality again, where I genuinely thought we had a chance going to Anfield last season.

Have a go
Technical ability/no hoofers
No twats
