I appreciate that I am about to condemn myself for heresy, abuse and be accused of rabble rousing/wind up merchanting/being a pig/sh*thousing/general b*stardry, and I take no joy from saying this, but in my honest opinion:

1. Our chances of automatic promotion, although not mathematically impossible are over. They ended with the 2 points against Bristol, Brum & Millwall. We are out of form, out of gas and out of ideas. We needed to be taking at least 5 points, if not 7 from these games, that was the required standard.
2. The next 4 games will be frustrating to watch and will make this board an unpleasant place.
3. We will finish the season with no more than 85 points.
4. We won't win either of the 2 semi final legs.
5. The fan base will be split as to whether the season has been successful or not, and the collective blood letting will last through the close season.

That is my honest opinion, others are free to have contrary ones, and i'm glad that CW doesn't share mine and that he is making positive sounds. If points 1 and 4 prove to be wrong, then I am quite happy for Foxy to delete my account/ban me and i'll never darken this forum again with my pessimism. And before anyone mentions 'trenches', no I wouldn't have been in one with you, I'd have made sure I was 30 miles away in the Officer's Mess. ;)

Oh, stop being so grumpy. ;)

There may be a couple more twists & turns this season, but it looks like my post is one of the very rare occasions I’ve not been proven correct regarding footballing matters. A rarity.

As a man of my word, i’m happy to stand by my promise. I’m not short of people or places that are eager to hear my well informed opinions; strangers on buses or drunks in pubs for example.

If we get the 3 points on Saturday, I would expect Foxy to allow my passage to more hospitable climes. :)

Looking forward to the updates from Wilder today, hope he can calm my nerves! Haven’t slept well all week!

Whether fans are optimists or pessimists, we will all agree that we won our two games over Easter and Leeds blew two easier fixtures, one against 10 men for nearly 83 minutes.

Even the biggest optimists will not have expected either Leeds result and will have been concerned about our Hull away game.

All of a sudden Ipswich at home looks more and more difficult, bearing in mind the £190m or so at stake. Even optimists will pray that we are not sweating on the Stoke game.

Ipswich at home is no easier than 10 man Wigan for 83 minutes. Strange things happen in the closing games. Ipswich can play with freedom and do have a good manager.

As for leaving the forum, do whatever you think is appropriate Nic. You can return with renewed balance and energy anytime that suits you. I wish certain others would take rests; it refreshes batteries and gives everyone a break and interrupts silly spats and vendettas. Can't see why you should be even thinking that way though, unless I've missed some other nonsenses.

Oh dear. I genuinely believed you were talking bollocks to stave off the football Gods or some such reverse psychology. I fear now you actually meant it.

A much more efficient (and accurate) construction of ‘Ive not been proved correct’ is ‘I was wrong’. You might also substitute ‘pusillanimity’ for ‘pessimism’.
