The one about Collins is particually intersting.
Whilst some have said he wouldn't give 100%, I disagree - for sure the fellow Scots would make sure he performed and to be fair he always seemed to give 100%, even if at times we questioned his ability.

Do yourself a favour Nigel - get him in the team - square pegs in square holes.

Maybe the choice between the sack never working again in the FL or swallowing your pride, has finally focussed the stubborn pig heads mind.
If so well done Jim P.

36 games too late though!

Only a few weeks ago, NC said Collins had not trained with them for 3months and not been near the ground.
Tricky these mysterious self-healing calf injury.

I'd wait until you hear the actual interview before deciding how likely it is that he'll play again. Nigel Clough has a habit of answering a direct question with a non-committal kind of "yes it is a possibility that he might return to play some sort of role in the playoffs" sort of answer, which then gets translated into a much more direct statement when it gets reported in a tweet/headline.

Clough has been pig-headed. Not strong, or authoritative, or principled.

Jim Phipps has threatened Clough with the sack if he doesn't pick Collins?!

Well when the injuries are stacking up who is going to play at centre back if we get an injury to Basham or Brayford? Steve Davies? Che Adams? the tea lady?

He does not have to like Collins but at least see him as an option rather than sticking anyone in at the back.

William Henry Foulkes, well questioned. Some posters tend to let their imaginations wander, often carelessly, so don't be surprised when a poster's hope is translated into an absolute. I'm surprised at your restraint WHF in using just the one question mark?

There's a school of thought on here that tends to obsess about Clough, to the point where facts aren't allowed to get in the way of a 'good story'.

After a recent thread criticising Howard it did occur to me that the tea lady may be the only one who's not had any grief. Even the ball boys got it one week.

Stick her at centre half though and things would change.

"Pot / Kettle";)

What exactly is the injury issue with Matt Done? I seem to have missed that somehow and he is one player we really do need back.

Well, Yes, would the carpeted ones be able to manage without their brews ?

Shes a left back though, another example of square pegs. Clough out!

Clough coming to his senses . Eating a bit of humble pie , added with desperate times mean desperate measures . Bring him back now.

Can't recall the exact nature of Done's injury, think it might be his groin. Seems he needs an injection then about 10 days for recuperation. There might be something on the Blades' site Grappler that offers more info.

Well, he's had a persistent groin injury that has meant he hasn't been able to start, regardless of the expert medical knowledge of some fans that have called for him to do so.

Think back to February, and he was actually signed with an injury - missing the Gillingham game completely. We have no idea how much he might have been pushed by Rochdale to play through that - with our squad size, we've had the luxury of being able to leave him out if he's not fit.

You get the sense from his interview that NC has been particularly frustrated with the injury situation this season. Some of these had clear warnings before the season started (like Wallace), some have had to be treated with considerable care (like Kennedy). I wasn't aware till listening to that interview that Kennedy is barely able to train regularly. He also highlighted that it's generally a big factor that signings have an injury-free history - which is why as he says O'Grady was preferable to Davies as their main target up front.

I've no doubt I'm going to disagree with many of NC's selection decisions in the remaining games, but on questions of player fitness he surely has to have the benefit of the doubt.

Yep, I remember now pal, thanks, groin injury

I can't understand the situation with Done the lad looked awesome in training yesterday stood out a mile IMO the fact we aren't scoring is mainly due to the fact he isn't playing. If that's him not fully fit I'd like to see what he trains like fully fit as he puts the others to shame.

Do you watch a different team and just show up on our forum? How many games have we not scored in Recently? I count one.

Might this be a hernia ? "Groin injury" often seems to mean this in footballspeak ?

If so, it might be risky (not least to Done) playing him flat out. But the alternative might be an op and a lay-off of several weeks--not something we would want in our current situation. Hernias can be nasty, depending on where they are, and if this is what "persistent groin injury" means I feel for him.

If he comes on and is out for 10 days, why the hell is he on the bench? Why not give him a rest for a couple of weeks to get him closer to 100% fitness for the really important matches in the playoffs?

If he's on the bench but not fit to start, it'll be a calculated risk by Clough if he plays - one that presumably Clough has calculated to be minor. As he has all the fitness info to hand, and given Clough seems cautious in virtually every visible aspect of football management, it would be totally out of character for him to seriously risk injury to a player.
