Ah well, another week with Collins in the side...

What was this again about the fans stepping up...

Good boy, saving his spending money until the knockdown January sales. Getting the no activity in early to lower expectations and criticisms. Rumours board is redundant for a few months.

Adkins on the injury news, we had 26 players training today which is good, looks like some key players are getting close.

Just wondering what the excuses will be once there all back :D:rolleyes:

Done has returned but his form is sporadic at very best.

Freeman has played well so although The Return of the Beard might well give us a lift, it might not be, er, game-changing.

Similarly for Kieran Wallace and Bob.

Are the teams we're putting out that far from our strongest eleven?

In many ways the most important player might well be James Wallace but it looks like there's no chance there.

The way I see it is that competition for places is rarely a bad thing. Some players do play better when they feel their place in the team is secure but a lot thrive on competition. They all have pride and egos and for those who've played at a higher level, it's embarrassing if you can't even make the first team at a L1 club. The kids will respond to it as well, if they see seasoned pros putting the effort in to get back into the first team, they'll want to emulate them. Just like we tried to be more like our bosses and senior colleagues when we saw what they drove and where they lived.

As eluded to above, even with the returning players, the key gaps/weak links i.e. GK, CB, LM won't be improved. Really surprised Kelvin Davis hasn't arrived yet.

Competition for places and the ability to field reasonable teams when players are rested will be a benefit, but I can't see our performances suddenly and dramatically improving even with a fully functioning first XI and our best bench.

(I think/hope performances will improve but there are other factors at work.)

Cheers for those. Not on Twitter or fb atm as I've got a new PC and it's a problem transferring data across, so it's nice to be in the loop.

The full interview with Coach Adkins.

Fatty, I don't think you need to be on Twitter. I just typed into google Jonathan Buchan twitter.
In fact have a link on me.

When I say 'have a link on me'....I don't mean like that picture that appeared in another post yesterday, I nearly threw up!

No me neither. It's just a step in the right direction. And at least if they're fit we can look at loaning one or two out instead of having them moping around the Lane.

What a disappointing interview.

Why aren't we chasing targets now? We need the players now, not January.

It's only my opinion but I don't think we will see anymore new faces coming in. With the injured players returning I think it's a case of seeing how we go till January. Will anything happen in January is anybody's guess, it's a risky strategy and one that's failed before.

Im sorry to be a miserable bastard but while the return of Harris and Brayford will obviously strengthen us, it's Wallace and Kennedy that we need more and if either of those ever get fit it's fair to say you aren't getting 3 games in a row from them before it's back to square one.

I'm glad they've decided to start talks behind the scenes about who should go out on loan. It's hardly rocket science is it? Talks behind the bloody scenes.

Far too little and far too late. Or does the management enjoy that wonderful game we play, called 'Let's Catch Up'
Just two rules. The top two must have twenty points more than us and we cannot pass go until January. Then the game begins.

I also dread to think how desperate watching a game between 2 teams of our players would be.

why is everything taking so long? So long to assess what we have. So long to try and sign players. So long to think about who we might loan out.

It's not hard.

Because the board hate the club?

I don't like how Collins is positioning himself in the last year of his contract, re signing this player would rubber stamp our intentions to tread water for the foreseeable future, signing player like him began this slide...

To be fair Robbo, with our track record of managers, I think NA knows he has to get this right, so was maybe more cautious than usual.

My statement was more in terms of the loan situation. How can you be starting to look at who we can loan out. Firstly, this should have happened at the start of the loan window. Second, it;s pretty simple. Who is fit? Who won't get on the bench. Hey bloody presto.

I also think when players return from a long lay off its luck of the draw as to whether they return at there best.

I still think we are a centre half short from being a good side that can challenge.
