"To avoid clashes after the game, Wednesday fans will be asked to 'voluntarily' remain in their seats until the stadium and surrounding streets are cleared of United fans"
Not sure there will be much "voluntary" about it. Does this really work so well in a city center ground (with busy home pubs on either corner of the away stand), especially on a Friday night? I'd have thought extra post-match segregation would just inflame things?
TBH, I'd have thought the best way to leave the ground would be head down/gob shut/disappear into the mass of people walking past (appreciate the metal wall will probably up again, but if the point of the wall is to stop fans meeting on Bramall Lane surely keeping away fans behind for 10 minutes defeats the whole purpose of the wall?).
Just seems a strange decision. Then again, I suppose they had originally planned it all for a midday kick off. Seems ludicrous that Sky can overrule police safety advice!
