I think most of us could accept the position we are in if the club, manager, chief executive and owners could just be honest and upfront although this would never happen.
When CW told us in March he knew what, who, why and where we needed to improve on and off the field and he had 100% backing from Bettis and the owners and all on the same page for the biggest rebuild he’s done.
Now fast forward to a week before the season we have sold Brooks, Hamer and released multiple players leaving us even shorter in certain areas both in numbers and quality and to be told via media we will have to wait until the end of the window to get loans in.
If they had come out and said we are financially screwed, it’s going to be tough due to last summers sacking of CW and signing poor players on big contracts and wages we would have been angry but still turn up and support what we have just like in the past when we didn’t have a pot to piss in, but no we were fed the all together line and in a good place etc etc.
Now this has created ill feeling and even more animosity towards the board which will effect crowds and the general feeling at the games which could have been avoided if just honest.

They've known all this legal stuff was gonna catch up ,to many problems in short space of time under there ownership !.

For me, Wilder can only piss with the cock he's got. If your owners tell you that they are backing you when they bring you back as manager, your gunna run with it.

Wilder in his interview looked shell shocked and under the same illusion we were before the news of money being owed to the prince.

So I am not going to blame Wilder.

Wilder is ultimately just an employee. You can have all the plans in the world but they'll ultimately amount to nowt if the money isn't there. Time to bite down on the gumshield and try to get to 50 points asap.

I'm more confused why these investors got involved with United if this was going to be their strategy. Surely the allowed losses, lack of investment in the Prem and player sales (including academy player sales) gives us room to manoeuvre if they want too? When Gus goes our Prem signings have all left. Maybe Cannon and O'Hare are on a fair screw, but it's hard to work out who else would be? They're all academy graduates, free agents, from league one or from the same division (Donavon aside).

I’ve not been a Wilder fan last couple of years but I agree with you.

I think he too has been shafted, I hope he can find some of his 2016-2020 magic when we had peanuts as well. 🤞

Given the situation that is rapidly unravelling with regard to the firesale ongoing - although I had reservations before - I am now relieved that Wilder is our Manager. He cares about the club & has a track record of doing well with backs against the wall due to owners (Northampton & Halifax were basket cases).

What does bettis actually do here? Really confused because if it’s his responsibility to get deals done he’s doing an awful job at it . I know the owners have fucked up but even when we have the funds for players they don’t get done straight away

This is no huge surprise. If you trusted what CW, the board or Rosen said, I feel for you. Losing Knilly so suddenly was a huge red flag.

It's a business game and we're paying for them to play it, but you don't have to believe it all.

Good luck Gus.

He has form for shuttling out of the back door, will he again?

All of which will disappear if we start winning.
Whatever happens it is only the results that define our success or lack of it.

Did you not realise we didn’t have parachute money?

Having targets and budgets doesn’t mean we’ll get them and of course players were going to be sold.

The biggest surprise of the summer for me is that people are surprised.

We’re not particularly screwed, but we have a different level of constraint to work within

Also doesn’t help when there’s loads of players that wilder wants rid of that are still here

Who knows how things might look by the end of August. It's the same for most clubs and particularly those who aren't flush with cash. Let's say, for example, that a club is ultimately to bring in 5 players on an average of £10k per week. Bringing them in two months before the window closes, to give them the infamous pre-season, would equate to around £400k in wage costs for very little pitch time. Why wouldn't a hard up club wait?

It may yet be that we see a late influx of additions, like last season. If so, hopefully a lot more thought goes into choosing who they are this time.

Question is will we even sign any on loan ? Even that sounds doubtful without any further signings do we have enough to stay up ? I’m hoping there’s 3 worser teams than us

Did we spend a total of £25 Million last year on players? If true what an absolute failure, talk about failing fast Helmy.

Really hope we get a course correction next week with some players in to refresh the group.

To be honest when Wilder came out with the "it will be different next season, 100%, we know what is required etc, etc, how many believed that bullshit. Fires off in the heat of the moment instead of learning to keep his trap shut.

Nor me. The time to blame him would be if he had been given the money and wasted it on more Cannon and Shackleton type signings. But the current situation isn’t on him.

Up front and truthful… the prince sold us to a bunch of charlatans, with absolutely no football knowledge who made every wrong decision they could last summer resulting in us been in the poo

I think most yank owners that take over football clubs don’t have a clue. The key is to bring in the right experience to help run the club. Unfortunately this lot brought in data maestro named Bord. A bloke whose wide and experienced knowledge spread all the way through the ……….Bulgarian League and apparently also advised on employing a manager who on the face of it, was almost as clueless as Bord was.

Honestly I am surprised we are linked with a multiple million pound bid.

Frees and loans was exactly what I was expecting this summer.

Bettis did kind of allude to this last season in an interview not once but twice I believe. He was planting the seed very subtly for the fans, so we knew what was coming.

They are not going to come out and say yeah, we're fucked lads we going to struggle on getting players in and we are going to sell what ever isnt bolted to floor are they, that puts us in a rubbish starting postion as the selling club also it puts fans off renewing season tickets etc.

Listening to wilders interview other day said our business is pretty much frees and loan- but what's more dishearting is that he pretty much told us we cant afford the good free loans either like we could last season "were in a different market of free loans to last season" we really are skint.

Wilder should stop lying to us "punters" and admit we're absolutely wank and have no chance of a good season because our owners are a bunch of clowns. We'd ALL respect him if he told it as it is and nobody would criticise him for it. But he's too selfish and just wants his next paycheck.

Shafted all the way to the bank .... must be hard!

A few losses early doors and the fans will turn against the current owners, vocally.

I think we can all accept we need to raise money & we can also accept that it’s a business you have to sell to buy but the current ownership has been a shit show:

Sacked Wilder despite finishing on over 90 points

Hired a manager that has no winning experience

Signed players based on AI

Took advice from a Poker Player

Rehired Wilder after the transfer window had closed

Winding up order on missed payments to previous owner

Court case about consortium fall out

This is the second summer transfer window with them & again it’s a shit show.

I’m sure there’s more to add into this, but what an absolute shitshow it’s been with absolutely no optimism.

Talking in mainly old school type clichés is his thing as are his emotional rants that are too based in being a fan and protecting himself than helping the team.

He can't stop himself and shows his limitations.

Enough believed him to keep the heat off him. He's now being seen through.

He's nowhere near the 2016 version and, somehow, we need to move him out if we are to get anywhere in the medium to longer term.

He is a huge part of our current problems, as are the results of his spending in years gone by.
