Just reading a bbc article about jens Askou the motherwell manager, if and when we part ways with wilder he is the sort of manager id like us to go with. Has totally changed motherwell and aparantly play the best football in spl ( which is championship level ) and has more than one way of setting a team up. Its a good read

Not dismissing the appointment as I don't watch Scottish football too much.

I would say that the SPL isn't Championship level. Maybe the top 4 in SPL are, but not a chance the likes of Dundee, Dundee Utd, Falkirk, Kilmarnock etc. challenge the top 6 in the Championship

I’ve read a few things about him this season, and on paper he does sound great. The only thing I’d say about that is so did the Still brothers managing in France (who I would have liked us to appoint last summer) but their styles didn’t suit the Championship at all and Askou isn’t wildly different.

No because when I do it is absolutely toss... like lower league 1 levels of toss

Edit:

I did some quick research. Computer games tend to know what's what with squad strength.

FC26 has Celtic at 75 rated, Rangers at 73 with Hearts at 71 (same as United).

The next highest rated Scots team in the game is Aberdeen on 68 - the only Championship team in the game lower than 68 is Sheffield Wednesday.

If you want more real life, Transfermarkt.com squad valuations has the following...

Celtic £145m
Rangers £122m
Hearts £28m
Hibs £20m

United are valued at £133m, Pigs £20m

Neither set of stats has anything to do with real life.

As someone who obsessively watches an unhealthy amount of football the SPL is a far more enjoyable watch than the EPL. Obviously a long way below it technically but a much better experience. And I think all of the SPL sides you’ve named would hold their own in the Championship once they had adapted.

Enjoyable it may be, but thats not what the OP said. He said the SPL is Championship level. It isn't.

"Once adapted" - so how long? If they need to adapt, they're not Championship ready yet and therefore not Championship Level as suggested in the OP.

One of the reasons we stink the PL out is because we can't adapt to it in 38 games.

Sorry, but the bottom 6 in the SPL would all finish in the bottom half of Championship.

That’s including all the Pigs’ loan players. I bet it’s half that once they’ve high tailed out of there!

Do you remember the last time we dabbled with scotish talent under Clough?
