Unsworth leaves the Blades

I heard Unsy left a couple of weeks ago, something is seriously wrong up there, we have a very large turnover of staff, it's not that long since Jamie Hoyland left

He had nothing to do with the first team after the playoffs, so I don't see a problem with it in that respect.

The academy still have two weeks until their season starts, so perhaps Nick Cox has somebody lined already? Hoyland and Unsworth were more into the direct style and the academy are all about 'proper' football so it shouldn't be a great surprise that they're being moved on.

What's all that about ??
Just what you don't want the day before the new season !

New brooms and all that... No need to over-react.

"David Unsworth has left Sheffield United as the ongoing reshaping of the staff at the Redtooth Academy at Shirecliffe continues.

The former Blades defender rejoined the Academy last season and also acted as an assistant to the first team under the temporary leadership of Chris Morgan in April and May.

"On behalf of the club, I'd like to sincerely thank David for his efforts and wish him well for the future," said Chief Executive, Julian Winter. "Our Academy is a major part of the football club and is quickly adapting to meet the needs of the club going forward."

Earlier this summer the club was delighted to be formally notified that Category Two Academy status had been gained by the professional Game Board (PGB) under the new youth development system."

Not particularly surprised really - the very brief mention of him in Weir's book seemed to suggest DW might not have had much respect for him.

Yet by all accounts he refused to talk to Kilmarnock earlier in the summer to stay with the Blades !

Does quickly adapting to meet the needs of the club going forward means reducing everything to a skeleton staff?

According to Weir - Clean Slate everybody has a chance to prove himself - Even Doyle has managed to hoodwink him into giving him the captaincy when he is struggling to hold his own in the side !

Didn't he talk to them and then said he wasn't interested in the role?

It's hardly going down to a skeleton staff. I'd rather Weir gets his own team in than have to accept those from the previous regime. And sadly that goes for Morgs too if needs must.

And seeing as he's been in charge for a while now, that clean slate may have been dirtied in some way.

Doyle's gonna Doyle - he's done well in pre-season so that's that. The problem comes when and if he plays poorly for a number of games and then keeps his place.

Do you ever think things through before you leap to another Blades bashing post?

Obviously you don't practice what you preach !
It's not a Blades Bashing post - it was a concern that we have parted company with a key figure in the Academy Set Up just a couple of days before the new season
Having seen United shoot themselves in the foot time and time again I thought it a tad concerning that yet again when most Blades are looking optimistic we start clouding the waters!

But, if you want to call it Blade Bashing then so be it !

I cant see what all the fuss is about, a coach at the Academy has left hardly going to impact on first team results
Im sure we will be able to find an adequate replacement if we already havent identified the person we want as a replacement

I'm neither disappointed nor remotely surprised. This was inevitable. I certainly can't see any cause for concern. Morgan will be next and I'm perfectly happy with that too.

HaHa.... not a Blades bash eh? Fair enough if you want to interpret it that way, but your track record is not exactly filled with lavish praises now is it.
And concern too ... getting soft in old age are we? ;)

In fairness you've implied that Weir has had something to do with it, that the club aren't going to replace him and you also assume that it's a negative move.

None of which you can back up with anything other than conjecture.... So you can probably see why people classed it as Blades Bashing.

An Everton fan at work said he saw this the other day and my first reaction was to shrug my shoulders.

There's not been a lot to' lavish praise on' in the last few years
But ...........if last nights performance is anything to go on then there may be a few praises on the way !!!
As for getting soft in my old age - Perhaps I am mellowing a bit ! (I still think that Porter is a waste of space)
UTB ;)

Fair comment FB, and as for Porter, I think he's much maligned and does stuff that some fail to see and recognise. Not the greatest striker but competent in that role in this division.
