Listening on the radio, that's what it sounded like to me. Their keeper kept them in it.

When it was 0-0 Keith said he couldn't see them scoring.

Sure, we should have won but it's one of those days. It sounded much better in terms of performance.

I just can't take the Bladeswingometer. When we win there's clappers on here with talks of play-off and an outside chance of automatic. When we lose there's 'sack Adkins' and murmurs of relegation.

There's an 80/90% chance we'll finish somewhere between 7th and 14th. There's a small chance we'll make the play-offs and a smaller one that we'll be pulled down towards relegation.

As for fighting, utter scumbags.

It's like a weekly episode of Jeremy Kyle on here.

This season will peter out and we'll finish outside of the playoffs. That's been nailed on for weeks. We're not good enough so prepare yourselves for more disappointing displays against mediocre opposition.

My principle concerns at the moment are twofold: (1) will we cull enough of the dross in the summer to completely overhaul the squad, and; (2) is Adkins the right man to undertake this because at the minute he's not doing it. On (1) we have to get rid of the crap, injury prone, under performing players. We CAN'T retain any player who we could get rid of. We must clear the decks. As for Adkins, he still gets the summer for me but if we're signing the likes of Hammond and other players on their way down rather than using the budget wisely like Walsall, Gillingham, Posh then I won't be far off throwing in the towel. :(

A fine post.

Adkins is perhaps the best example of the right man at the wrong time - Stick with him. His time will come... At least i hope it does

Fuck off unlucky. It is what it is, we've lost to Rochdale FC. Let's stop with the excuses, nothing is going to ever improve while it's always somebody else's fault. We are where we are for a reason.
Succinct as ever ;)

"Unluckiest side in England. It's the only way it can possibly be explained."

Got to clear out the shite players. No team spirit, no fight, no character. It's been like this for seasons. It has to stop.

If Burton, Gillingham and Walsall can build promotion battling sides on a shoestring, we should be able to do the same but better.

If we are going to sack Adkins then it needs to be now so we don't get the new manager having the excuse of "giving everyone a chance" again. Not that I'm saying we should sack him but if we sack him at the end of the season then it shows we have learnt nothing

To reyt Adkins called it..'Coukd get worse before it gets better'

;)

Exactly. Nigel's got a big opportunity this summer - to do what Chris Powell did with Charlton, & build his own team. And he needs to do what Kenny Jackett did at Wolves with those still in contract who he doesn't fancy - freeze them out completely, don't let them poison his first-team squad. It can be done.

But he needs McCabe & Abdullah to properly back him. He can't just do it with free transfers alone. Not that he needs vast funds, just assurance he won't have to sell his core of quality to raise funds to buy.

In the meantime, hope he sticks to 3-5-2, to the Billy/Che frontline, & that he brings even more youth in. Give Whiteman his debut Tuesday - this season's a write-off now.

The more flak the board get, the more likely they'll use Adkins to deflect it.

Courage in leadership and all that...

Bad day for't Blades.
I was kind of hoping we might be able to kick on a bit with a win today, Hammobd out, Flo in..Billy and Che up top...but it wasn't to be.

Hope Adkins has learned summat today, particularly about the defence, who don't dominate enough...

Lots to do.

First half was as good I've seen us for a while, complete domination and attacjed with pace and width. Adams had a couple of good chances and the best one fell to Cuvelier. All well hit and the keeper (MOTM for them) made excellent saves.

2nd half we never got going, they brought some height on and we fell apart. Even at 1-0 down, I didnt think we'd lose. Our attack broke down and we got steamrollered and outmuscled and from the corner, they had a free shot from about 8 yards out and game over.

Best player for me was Flo, aggressive, good touch, creative and special mention for JMc, who went on a run from the edge of our box to their area and the final ball failed.

Were we unlucky? Probably, but as the season's over it doesn't matter. It was painful listening to Warnock on RS, but it did make me think, we wouldn't capitulate like that with him in charge.

The frustration is borne out of McCabe's philosophy of spin. He talks about " going for it " but never does. The JTW was a non existant event and the loan window jammed.

It's more of the failed lame promises that get 19,000 through the turnstiles but nothing in return.

That first half was the best I have seen all season, could have scored four. Then they scored with their first shot on target and we imploded.

Roy , have us fans 100% confidence in Adkins both on recruitment and tactics to date . He certainly has not got the best out of the players he has and the additions with the exception of Sharp have all been questionable.
Could it be that there has been no movement in the JTW and loan window , because he is not 100% trusted by McCabe.
My view he is only still in a job because we have sacked too many managers in the past . Adkins is a great talking motivator but I don't think players would run through a brick wall for him or fully believe what he says .

Could be Adkins and us are not the fit we thought we would be , but he has been part of the process of were we are , let's see if he can get us out of it . It's seems we have no choice unless we spend millions on compensation again and the recruitment of another manager.

UTB.

I did think the same after the January window passed us by. I really don't think McCabe is convinced by him at all. I think his answers about whether he would be at the club next season were very vague. If we are giving him till the end of the season then getting rid we may as well forget next season too. Sadly I think that is what will happen because the board are probably the most incompetent is the entire footballing world. Even the guy at Wednesday knew he was out of his depth when it came to football so hired football men around him. Who have we got calling the shots? A Prince, a building specialist, an ex hooligan and an international business attorney. Not 4 trades you would associate with knowing anything about football

McCabe doesn't seem to be too bothered about spending another season in this league .
It wouldn't have taken much in the windows to improve enough to gain the playoffs ,one of the best chances in years to gain promotion against poor competition.

This season was the best chance in the last 5 for us to McCabe quote ( Going for it ) and apart from Billy Sharpe we've brought average players in. The one big chance to show the fans he meant business and McCabe goes and blows it in spectacular fashion. The bloke is nothing more than spin merchant bullshitter who's being laughed at by a non footballing chairman over at the Swillery.

McCabe is nothing short of a pathetic joke.

Their goalkeeper having a blinder isn't unlucky ,we did play well but didn't score ,Flo made a difference in possession and pace.
Not reacting to veteran bloaters like Holt and Vincenti at Rochdale is not unlucky for a club of Sheffield Uniteds standing by a premiership manager ,it is shambolic. Adams needs to get a grip of this league sharpish.

I wasn't at the match and could not bring myself to listen to Rad Sheff but I blame Keith Edwards. I am fed up with him saying "I cannot see the opposition scoring" and it is guaranteed that within 5 minutes we will be 1-0 down and lose the game. Commentators curse so Keith just shut up.

Sorry Nige but opposition goalkeepers are actually paid to stop shots. . . . . Which part of that didn't you fucking realise?
