United stars want Carver

France, Taylor, Nosworthy, Quinn, Henderson (only because of wages and injury record),

we should be able to bring in cheap players thatg are good enough to keep us up this year and move forward next year
look at what warnock did Wayne Allison, Stuart McCall, Carl Asaba, Iffy Onura, Paul Peschisolido, Steve Kabba, Peter Ndlovu, Paddy Kenny all cheap bargin buys or part of a player exchange.

The fact that Warnock got to 2 semi finals with Asaba and Allison in the side should be grounds for a knighthood

Asaba was a pretty poor striker but he worked harder than our current lot do. And Allison was very useful to play the ball into. He couldn't do much else, but he was a one man base camp in enemy territory.

Chief!!!!!!

So you basically agree that they were both extremely limited strikers? Sorta validates my point don't it?

Arise Sir Neil!

Well, yeah. Not every post has to be an argument. :)

I did like Chief though. A great example of how blending limited but varying talents can make a good team.

Too true.

No time for arguments anyway as i've just found that Stan Bush - The touch(AKA the theme tune to Transformers - the animated movie) is available for download on Rock Band 2.

Time to go rawk!

I think if those useless underperforming two-hats (especially the back four) want Carver as manager that by default should rule him out.

The first ones out for me would be Nosworthy, Taylor, Calve and Taylor in that order. Midfield and forwards are okay at this level, the current back four will take us down. New manager (who knows what he's doing) and two decent centre halves in January will keep us up.

Taylor, so shit they binned him twice;)

wayne allison wouldve got 3 minutes every other match if iffy onoura, who was about 1/100th the player even of WA hadnt got a career-threatening injury. NW's 'genius' in his use of 'the chief' is much over-stated and very much down to luck. we'd have finished mid-table if iffy had remained fit

Stars?????????

The genius was in signing the guy. Yes it took some unforeseen luck for him to establish himself in the team, but had it not been for signing him in the first place (something the vast majority of fans were strongly against, despite him being extremely cheap) it wouldn't have happened. Some questioned the need to sign both players - the most likely reason was that though Iffy was 1st choice to start off with alongside Asaba, NW wanted a back-up in case it didn't work out, be it performance-wise or injury-wise (particularly the latter given his knee issues at Gillingham).

We saw how quick NW was to ditch Hayles early doors - no reason to assume that Onuora would have remained in the team long even without the injury happening.

Awesome at Old Trafford in the semi, an unwarranted critisism.

Wow, that must be the first time that anyone has mentioned the mighty Stan on this forum. Maybe we should add him to the interview list too?

He also wrote 'Love Don't Lie' which was a minor hit for House of Lords, the band featuring Greg Guf..... Greg Giuf..... Greg Guif....... that keyboard player..!

Sorry, back to the topic in hand.....
