United Documentary

I have a pretty vast collection of United videos which I'd love to get copied onto DVD. A few from the 85/86 season are the earliest, us beating Fulham, Brighton (one of these is a Cup match), and L**ds (3-2) all at the Lane. I've got us beating West Ham 3-2 in 93-94, Spurs 6-0, losing 3-2 to Norwich in 1989, beating Huddersfield 5-1...

Foxy is your man. He took all mine to do in Feb.

If I remember correctly was this shown on a Friday evening,,it was not long after I'd started following the blades and I thought it was great that we had a tv show and used to brag at school to the leeds and wednesday fans that we were better because we have a show on telly,,,,well you do when your about 11 which I think I was.
I'm sure I used to watch it with me mam when me dad was down the pub.

Off topic I know but are you West Yorks born and bred ie. "Fev"-Blade

I had the exact same hitachi tv in my bedroom with those curtains as well!! Thank god I now have one with a remote..

Just came across The Fans episode and noticed this thread. Foxy - does the full set exist anywhere online?

I bought a video/DVD player from Currys about 4 years ago which copies Video to DVD. Cost about £300 and works well. Not sure if they are still available.

I have a dvd of this series on it. Not a great picture but watchable.
I found a bloke on t'internet who sells all that stuff, bit shady but if they aren't properly released what else are you supposed to do??
Can't remember who now though, he may still be out there in cyberspace if you google it.

How can anybody not like WSC?? It's legendary! Best quote for me was, "it's yooo-nited Jimmy!"

I got mine from a website called 'football on tap'

Give him an email asking for whatever DVDs you want and he'll send you an invoice for paypal

I have about 10+ DVDs from him, he has season reviews, documentaries and single match DVDs (providing they were on sky (some of our prem games are from sky's 'football first' coverage))

There's a few sections of the website you'll have to trawl through to make sure you're getting all the DVDs you're after

Oh and they're a reasonable £3 each, £17 cheaper than season reviews I've bought from the club

Thanks for posting this, Silent. 1989/90 was my favourite season ever as a Blades fan; I doubt I'll ever have that same level of excitement again watching the Blades, and yet Keith Broughton is still grumbling about the poor performances and doesn't seem to like Bassett at all. I wonder what he thought of David Weir?

Unsure if this is still relevant to people
Do Keith Broughton, Winnie Royston and Martin Haythorne still go to the Lane? See the moron who spat at the camera at 11.28? Can any of you see yourself in this video?

I came across this when looking for my grandma eulogy. My beautiful grandma winnie royston passed away last week and her funeral is on Monday. If you cut grandma in half she would have blade stamped right through.

Hi Amanda, I was sad to hear about your Grandma Winnie, please accept and pass on my sincere condolences to Alan and the rest of the Royston Family.

Regarding Keith Broughton, he no longer lives at Norfolk Park, his house was bulldozed many years ago.

He is still a season ticket holder, a senior one now though !!!!! and this season will be his 40th consecutive season without missing a home game, the last home game he missed was in October 1975 when we went to see The Who at the Granby Halls at Leicester.

That series - excellent stuff.

Best bit though is when they focussed on a fan - a man in his fifties - and froze framed to cartoon just as he exasperatedly yells, "Oh! That were fuckin' pathetic!"

How many times, eh?

The only home game we played in October 1975 was the 2-0 loss against Stoke. We had appointed Jimmy Sirrel as our new manager two days earlier but he insisted on serving his months notice at Notts County despite that he was on a month to month contract for the last 6 years and was in charge of County's home defeat against Oxford on the day we played Stoke. On the following Monday, Notts County board told him he could leave County immediately to start at SUFC

Jim Brown had injured his shoulder in a collision just before Stoke's first goal and was unavailable for the next three matches

Silent, the game was Stoke City at home, the day before my 20th Birthday.

We went down to Leicester early to celebrate my last day of being a teenager, I feel quite old now, thanks !!!!!!!!!!

First time that I have seen any of that game, let's say I was requested to leave before the kick off

Amanda, regards to the family. I never met her but she was class. I treasure everyone who opened up on that doc and she was superb.

Sad news Amanda, best wishes to the family.

I remember watching the documentary as a 12yr old and laughing at, which is now a modern day set up, your grandad as he gets on with the his painting saying "it gets her out of the house and keeps her from under my feet" while Winnie goes off to the match via the pub and a few beers with the lads.

That will be two United legends gone to sit in the old John Street stand within a month then.

Condolences, Amanda. I remember watching her on that programme and thinking 'now that is what it means to be a Unitedite'. And it was good that they brought in different flavours of supporter, of which your nan was definitely one.

As a point to everyone, we have all looked upon next season as 'this will be the one'. Think how many times Winnie has thought that.

And still stayed a Unitedite.

You were in the BLLT?

During the 1970s the police were often taking some fans away from the BLLT either to throw them out of the ground or to escort them to the Kop. During the 1977-78 season I watched our home games from the Kop (my dad and I were season ticket holders in the BLUT from 1970 to 1977) and I remember during the Luton game (I was stood next to my two cousins) and we saw our Ronnie with his gang being escorted by the police to towards the Kop and they got in the Kop/John Street corner
