Would I be correct in thinking that United are debt free, or have minimal debts?

No bank debt, but we owe McCabe and co millions I believe. Doubt he will ever call it in.

At the last accounts there was no debt due to the owners from Blades Leisure or the Football Club. All loans and investments had been capitalised into shares and a share premium account. At that point, the OP is correct.

Until he sells Brooks in the JTW.

Oh, no! WHAT HAVE I SAID?

Something that he's currently unable to do? There are no loans to repay.

You know this so I suspect it's your day off and you're bored. Hasn't Bert sent you his holiday snaps to look at?

No photos, or any cash to pay my travel and accommodation either. You up for that? It's only £15-17k. Ish.

hope when we get promoted whenever that maybe that McCabe gets a few quid back on his investment ,
he deserves it .
I bet if you asked him what he'd rather have; his money back or the Blades as an established PL club, he'd chose the latter. The money would be nice, but he's not short of a bob or two. I think he'd love to retire as the bloke who restored us to top flight football (even if it did take him twenty years). If he left us in the position West Brom are now, he'd feel like it was job done. Win a trophy and it would be job done well.

£98 return train fare on Saturday and a free ticket from Bert..... what you say?

If Bert had asked pommpey a fortnight ago, he'd have taken him up on that. Pommpey would also need a night in the Premier Inn at Moorfoot as that train would get him back way past his bedtime.

(ps: there is also a more pressing reason why I am unable to travel as well which involves my missus and her recent time in Wessex Neurosurgery at Southampton General)

There'll be another time, but you can forget the hotel.

Pommpey hopes to be up there sometime near Easter, all things going well. Fear not about the cost.

He's determined to be at Reading away, too.

Pint?

He wrote the debt off by buying shares ,all it means really is the money is invested in the club ,if and when he sells up he would expect to get it all back.
We have to be established in the premiership for anything like that to happen.
I hope the Mccabe family keep there share of the club,we then won't fall into the hands of greedy basters who are after a quick buck

I hope he stays and gets the return/rewards he deserves.

Just as long as he leaves Wilder to do his job.

Also worth remembering that any 'sell-ons' from the sales of Walker, Maguire etc. doesn't go straight into the 'pot' for CW to spend. The upkeep on BDTBL, running the Steelphalt Academy, wages etc. must be vast.
This is backed up by the fact that Huddersfield Town have called time on their academy teams below U-18 level, at the very same time as they achieve the riches of the Premiership.
