A result that is significant today and gives us hope. Thirty years ago today I went to Bramall Lane horrified at the thought that we wouldn't win a game before Christmas. The delight when we went a goal up thanks to Bryson.
Of course we had to do it the United way. Roy Keane equalises without us touching the ball from kickoff and we are soon 2-1 down. A fantastic header from Bryson though and the Deane winner in front of the Kop will live long in the memory!
There aren't many pitch celebrations when a team win a mid season league game! If United win on Boxing Day I might just storm into Bramall Lane to celebrate a win on the pitch again!

It's weird. I was only young (9 years old). The only goals I have actual memories of are the Forest ones, especially the Pearce goal.

I remember the atmosphere for the winner and the walk out of the ground though. Great day

We weren't used to playing against such big names. I remember the opening game against Liverpool being a bit starstruck. Sadly, so were the players!

I remember losing to Arsenal. I think it was 0-2 and Perry Groves came on as sub (might even have scored). They were just so much better

Kevin Campbell and Alan Smith scored
I'm 100% sure that Groves came on. It's a weird group of memories for me. It was my first season ticket and I went to a few away games but my memories are really hazy. Walking back up East Bank Road with my Mum on Boxing Day after getting spanked 0-3 by Coventry (I think they scored a free kick, maybe Kevin Richardson?). Arriving at Anfield for the away game but nothing about the game. The bloke behind us away at Everton singing "Yorkshire Post to be at home" because he didn't know the words and the United fans singing "United hate Elton Welsby" to Richard Keys. The fog in the Southampton game. How terrible Andy Gray was for Spurs in the 6-0. Perry Groves coming on as sub. The noise of the ground for the Derby and buying a T-Shirt the next home game after the 1-3 at Hillsborough that had 2-0 & 1-3 on it and a slogan I can't quite remember.

That might be it (I love stats but I've really tried to do this without looking at anything)? I know we beat Chelsea 1-0 in a game and my Mum made us leave early to go shopping before we scored but that could be a later season.

I loved that season

The bloke behind you for the Everton game should have forever had the piss taken out of him for that error!!

I remember it being pretty funny!

I've just looked and we didn't lose 3-0 to Coventry at all! Mind plays tricks

My favourite ever Blades game. Was this the game where Pearce kicked Bradshaw into the advertising hoardings and Bradders just got up and laughed at him? These days he would scream like a woman in labour, whilst the rest of the team crowd around the ref waving imaginary cards. VAR still wouldn't send Pearce off as he was an England international. They would come up with some shit like it wasn't clear and obvious, or they didn't want to re-referee the game.

It wasn't that season, I think it was a Boxing Day match and Peter Ndlovu was brilliant for Coventry.

And I remember Justin Edinburgh scoring a really good goal for Spurs at the Bramall Lane end! It's all coming back to me now

I must have dreamt that about Ndlovu playing must have been before his time

I remember 2 things about that match:

1. After an even first half United collapsed in the second half.

2. As you can see in the highlights, John Street was packed. I and dozens of others were moved to the seats above to lessen the crush. The Kop was rammed too. The attendance was announced as 19,000 odd, to general laughter.

I was right about the free kick and it looked exactly as I remember it. Just the wrong player

Stewart Robson, not Kevin Richardson scored on the day. Peter Billings scored the free kick

We were shite. Kop roof had fallen in (where the beloved Pukka pies corner stand is now) game delayed to get crowd into John st terrace.
We were shite.
I remember being freezing and miserable and it taking approximately 10 hours to walk back up East Bank Road

Just looked, it was the following season
Earliest I've ever left a game, about 66 minutes when their 3rd went in. We were fucking dogshit that day. The Bassett style of playing was exciting to watch and effective when we played well but it was truly dreadful when we didn't.

Always remember Deano’s bizarre wrist action after he had scored the 3rd!

What a team we had then Bryson , Bradshaw , were brilliant wingers and the balls they crossed were fantastic floated in at the right height , place and pace .Vinney was underrated in my opinion , great footballer , but his reputation always followed him , and as for Deane , what can you say about the man , it was a privilege to watch him.
Can the team we have now repeat this , this season , No i am afraid .

This must have been just before this game, go to 1.30 for the Greavsie gag about us, and one of Ron's wishes did happen.

Remember this game well. What an afternoon and atmosphere, followed by the invasion! Made my chrimbo!!
Bradders loved playing man to man vs 'Psycho' and tore him apart!!!
