Bryan needs a free pass for that one. You have to feel for him really as:

He's been injured for yonks
It was his debut
He stuck to his instructions and was clearly trying to emulate JOC in his overlapping but was badly let down by Johnson and Lundstram
There were 9 players around him all senior pros, all with significant game time this season and YET, all couldn't muster up ay sort of performance

In fairness to him he actually ran around and looked the fittest player in our 11. In fact he played some lovely balls into Washington second half that were squandered by his colleague. Also rather enjoyed his "bumbling run" (marauding run if you ask me) that led to a free kick on the edge of the box. Few inches more and he'd have won a pen for his side and receiving praise for it.

Eventually that performance will be put into context. An XI that had never played together, several of whom are unlikely to start league matches, in a largely empty stadium, and when they had only been selected because the competition is not top priority, is always likely to produce a sub-par performance. Not as bad as the Barnet game, though. But individuals will survive that. A year and a half ago, I went to watch United Under-23s play a friendly at Matlock, when both Duffy and Brookes played. In a low intensity match with less strong team-mates, I concluded that Duffy was past it and Brooks would never make it. By the end of the Boxing Day massacre, I had changed my mind...
