Two great goals today, well worth a look at the video clips but they don't tell the full story.

Great to see Ramsdale in goal although he had little to do except pick the ball out of his own net. Played with Wilson and Semple at Center Back and Bennet and Kelly at full backs although why we do not play with three Center Backs as is the norm with the first team does surprise me a bit. Wilson and Semple both had excellent games and it was difficult to pick out the first team squad player. The youngsters heading gets stronger and stronger every time I see him.
Our mid field of Reed, Scougal, Brooks, and a new player, were a bit below their usual high activity and our forwards McNulty and Wright were having to work hard against a strong Huddersfield side. We did shade the first 45 and nil nil was Flattering to the visitors.
Early in the second half after a bit of ping pong in our box the visitors took the lead and for a time it looked like we would never score but a formation change with Slater being introduced and Brooks being pushed up resulted in a fine goal. Now I am a big fan of Brooks, his long stride and control are very unusual but effective and when he turned his man at the edge of the box his right foot curler to the left side of the goal was a delight and this was followed by a great strike from McNulty that was fit to win any game.
Just to keep us interested Reed was given a red card not sure why but it upset the ref but even with ten men United safely saw out the game
So it's of to Hull on Saturday be interesting to see the team sheet as our first team will rightly take priority but if we again rely on the youngsters I know they will not let us down
The Hull game will take place immediately after they play a Premier fixture and their supporters are encouraged to stay and watch the Reserves. United note could we try this ?

Not at game today but from my fellow 23s watcher, Baws report sounds spot on.

Always a decent result against The Udders.

A Premier League fixture? We certainly could...

Thanks for the report. :)

Two cracking goals.
Have to say McNulty showed some quality with his. Bit of an enigma that lad. Just wonder if Wilder sees the shiny bit in a poo with him. IF he could transform him in the way he has with a few other "lost causes" we could have the "new" striker many feel is needed.
Superb cool finish by young Brooks too. Think he could make it and hope we keep hold of him.

Do agree with you. I have watched the Under 23s and there is no doubt there are young players who deliver game after game. Brooks is a special talent with a distinctive stride and an eye for fine goals. Semple never fails to fit in with any partner provided and Graham, who didn't get on yesterday, looks the part. I like watching Semple and Graham playing together. Ramsdale is a good prospect and I have watched him develope this year just hope he gets competitive games

Of interest to me is Semple.

CW, when arriving at BDTBL said that he needed another 6 months.

That time is up - is he ready to step up to the 1st team squad?
From the young 'uns cup final at the end of the season, he looked left footed - is he the replacement for Wright (eventually) ?

UTB

Semple is a natural left footed Centre Back in the modern style. Very assured on the ball and is usually the one to play out from the back. It's unusual for a player who has just turned 18 to play at the back in our league but he is getting stronger by the game and his heading is outstanding. I'll be surprised if he's not in the first team squad by the end of the season, hope it's United's.

I can see Semple being the replacement for either Wright or Wilson when their contracts are up. That would mean next year maybe going on loan for a season. If we go up then i could see a loan to either a L1 or L2 side.

I also think that for once we have a manager who has got his centre backs sorted out. He has short, medium and long term plans and for once he sees no reason to rush a decent prospect into the firing line. EEL is only playing his first real batch of first team games at 23 years old. Semple and our other youngsters have plenty of time.

That sentiment goes for Sam Graham also. He seems to be following exactly the same path as Semple only 6 months behind. Cummings on the other hand seems to have gone backwards a fraction. It certainly seems Semple and Graham are the young pair to play for the 23s at the moment and as i have said before the pair of them are 7/8 out of 10 every single game.

Why would Tufty urge Knill forward? Was he standing too far away from the touchline?...

Might have been giving him a go, inspired by watching the 930 year old Sean Bean in When Saturday Comes ;)

After watching McNulty being shouted at by two sets of managers and coaches for completely switching off after the balls gone I suspect he'd have to learn to graft a bit to get in a Wilder side. Whether that's down to him being lazy or just dim I'm not sure but he needs to up his game whatever the reason.
