I see Reece Brown didn't turn out. Has he actually made an appearance for us yet as I haven't seen that he has?

If not, seems odd offering a contract when he's supposedly arrived on the pretext of having an initial trial

Under 23's beat QPR 4-1 on Monday. Brown played a full match.

There is a report on NUFC.com, seems we parked the bus and proceeded to rob them.
Maybe we defended superbly and took our chances clinically....

Then again i guess parking the bus and robbing them keeps our youngsters firmly in their place ......

The one where there's a big difference between hope and expectation.
I hope to win the lottery on Saturday night.
I hope McCabe will splash some cash in January.
Both ain't gonna happen but I still live in hope.

Good report on Newcastle Website on todays game.

Don't know how to get it on my post.... Technology !!!

I wouldn't exactly call it a good (unbiased) report but here it is:-

"Newcastle reserves made a losing start to their Central League Cup group stage campaign on Thursday afternoon at a sun-drenched Little Benton.

With Rafa Benitez and his coaching staff among a small crowd present, Massadio Haidara started the second game of his comeback along with eight of the starting lineup that had beaten Brighton earlier in the week.

Following an uneventful opening 30 minutes, the home side missed three scoring opportunities in one passage of play: Dan Barlaser running clear on goal only for his initial shot to be parried by goalkeeper George Long.

The ball broke free for Barlaser to try again - only to head against the crossbar - Long recovering to grab Luke Charman's goalbound header from the rebound.

Within five minutes the visitors were ahead from their first meaningful attack; Jordan Hallam planting a rising shot past Freddie Woodman after the home side surrendered possession midway inside their half.

Quite how Peter Beardsley's side went in a goal behind only they will know, with one way traffic towards the Blades goal seeing a snap shot from Callum Williams blocked in the six yard box and Liam Gibson bringing a noteworthy save from Long at his near post.

In between those efforts, right winger Callum Roberts worked a trio of openings but his most dangerous shot cannoned off the base of the post in the 44th minute.

A second half of few genuine scoring opportunities for either side saw the visitors double their lead after 68 minutes, central defender Callum Semple left alone at the far post to guide home a simple header.

That came seconds after Haidara had made way for Jamie Holmes and his forward running saw Newcastle subject the Blades to some pressure - although the quality of our deliveries into the box was patchy.

Charman became the third home player to strike the woodwork on 80 minutes, but that was as good as it got for the black and whites who return to league duty against Swansea City at Whitley Park on Monday.

Next up in this competition is a home meeting with Hartlepool United next month, followed by visits to Rotherham United and Bradford City in December and January respectively.

Hallam strokes home the opener for the visitors after James Wallace played him in. 0-1. #NUFC

Clearly we've got a trialist we're trying to keep under wraps who's going under that name.

My sources tell me that Wallace himself was frozen earlier this month. He will remain frozen until medical science reaches a point where it can establish how to bring him back to being of use to the footballing world.

Unless he's undergone some revolutionary reverse-Michael-Jackson treatment there is no way that first goal was set up by James Wallace.

I think i prefer the little article on the SUFC Website if i am honest Sothall......

I live on the planet reality, this is the planet where JW lives on
If James Wallace has played more than 180 minutes of football for united in the last two years I'll watch a Wednesday game.
Wallace problems are not insurmountable if they were he would have had an insurance pay off by now.
Wouldn't be the first player to put a terrible time with injury behind him,
at 23 -24 he has time to get himself
right hopefully sooner than later, then he can repay the patience we've shown with him As a poster has said

no footballer is happy to be out injured whether on a good contract or not.He could still be a really good player for us

Great to see James Wallace getting some game time! Let's hope this is finally some sort of start back for him. Whether he makes it back for us or elsewhere, I wish him all the best.
