Uncharacteristically sloppy

Loved this post, made be laugh but lets give credit to Coutts for having the balls to take the pen last night.

Coutts is a nice lad but he's like pollyfilla in a wall for me, fills a hole and often looks OK when its finished but does nothing to help the wall with its first job of holding up the ceiling. Lots of little short passes in midfield last night but not much offensively nor defensively, just filled a hole.
Polyfilla is meant for filling small cracks in plaster, it's not intended to be structural.

It's very good at the job it's supposed to do. Using it for anything other than cosmetic repairs is like using Coutts in a four man midfield, wrong and likely to cause problems. It's all about using your materials in the right way and in the right place.

Precisely, polyfilla is only there for people who need it to be there to look good, its cosmetic, nothing stuctural, fills a space. Fine for now but to continue the analogy in the longer term I'd rather have some more bricks or a RSJ than polyfilla if the success criteria is decided by others and is if the ceiling holds up (ie points). An example, Sabella was pretty polyfilla in midfield but didn't win matches for us and we got relegated.

I like midfielders that can be offensive or defensive or ideally both but not neither next season. For now its OK IMO, does no harm, just wastes playing time, but can see others prefer pretty over points. A controversial no nonsense view I know but I call a spade a spade. Each to their own.

Sorry that's bull. Yes we leave ourselves open at times (more than I would like recently) and, especially without Wright at the back, can get a bit panic stations at times but one thing you cannot accuse this side of is tossing it off.

Probably the hardest working United side I have seen - the passion, belief and confidence they have shown throughout the season is without question. What a ridiculous comment to make.
Absolutely spot on mate! "Tossing it off" - absolutely ridiculous! Deary me.

Sabs was a bit before my time so it wouldn't be right to comment.

Personally I think Coutts has been central to a lot of our attacking moves this season, he gets the assist before the assist, if you get what I mean. I too though prefer all round centre midfielders but they seem to becoming quite rare. I'm hoping both Samir and Fleckcellent can step up next season.
