The new Montgomery I'm calling it now.
That’s what I was thinking. Hard tackling aggressive midfielder. Competition for Fleck more than the other midfielders. Another ball winning midfielder wouldn’t be a bad idea.

It reminds me a tad of when we went for Mark Patterson from Bolton. It wasn't a signing to be really excited about but he became fans favourite and an essential player. I can't see Hogg getting in front of Fleck or Norwood but presumably is good competition and we'll need someone who can battle in there.

Haven’t you answered your own question. You say a 3 man midfield hasn’t worked well. So that would mean we have to improve for when we do go into this with better players.

That would require more than just midfield signings though. In that system we'd need more threat from the wing back areas and the front 2. The deeper forward would be crucial and athleticism in midfield is favourable, which Hogg doesn't really bring. A trio of Hogg / Norwood / Fleck is lacking a bit. I wouldn't want to see that 15 times next season, certainly not the 25+ Hogg would be expecting to start.

You have played way too much football manager.

Great reply from somebody who never, ever justifies his superior attitude.

What do you disagree with? If anything.
"Tunstall Frrrrred" likes your post btw

IF true it means CW backs him so that would be enough for me. To say Hogg doesn’t have athleticism is ridicolous as it’s pretty much what his game is.

To go on about how we need to improve on players is obvious? We are looking to improve all over the pitch.

I don’t care if you don’t want to see it 15x a season.

Where you have a player from Huddersfield would demand to play more than 25x is also just made up.

As for the deep lying forward or whatever you put just made me chuckle.

Hogg has a good engine but he isn't tall or quick, and plays a more disciplined defensive role.

He wouldn't sign to be backup. He's not the sort you bring in to be backup. Realistically he'd start quite often. I wouldn't expect you to see that though.

If 'deeper forward' made you 'chuckle' that's strange. Presumably you think it's 'Football Manager' terminology. Well, tell me the superior Bladezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz way to describe that position and that's what I'll use in the future. 👍

One post he’s not got the required athleticism the next he has a good engine.... I don’t even need to say anything further. Your losing arguments against yourself.

OK Chuckler.

Does 'good engine' = athletic? At Premier League level especially?

Are you an athlete at PL level if you're 5 foot 10 and lack pace and agility?

If going into a midfield with Norwood and Fleck, does he tick the physical boxes you'd want the 3rd midfielder to? He falls just short for me. And even if he didn't, he isn't attack minded enough to provide the right balance in that trio.

Good engine would mean athlete at premier league level. Now you are confusing the word athlete with athleticism. This is going from bad to worse.

God knows what height has to do with it? Hazard / Gundogan / Silva etc are now not athletes according to yourself.

You’ve fallen even further with the latest comment of saying he isn’t attack minded! Which would be the whole point of the signing.

Splitting hairs isn't going to work I'm afraid. If you think there's any worthwhile distinction to be drawn here, then explain it.

Hazard and Silva are quick and agile. Gundogan less so - using him as an example is staggering just staggering (to use your level of exaggeration).

If you think Hogg's attack minded you've just shat all over yourself you really have oh my word oh my word how I chuckled.

Splitting hairs? Your argument at the start was he doesn’t have athleticism. You then tried to define athleticism in regards to height? Whilst contradicting yourself about him having a good engine.

Even now you now are trying to establish a link between footballing ability / height / and being an athlete. Gundogan left toe is better than Hogg. But it’s another point you’ve amazingly missed.

Then the final paragraph you have just made up of the top of your head. Where has anyone said he’s attack minded?. I can try and make the point simpler for you. Hogg is to add to defensive side of the midfield IF CW chooses to go down that avenue. I hope this helps.

I won’t respond again as your points are becoming more random and quite frankly you’ve made yourself an idiot and in modern times it’s not good to belittle people.

Have a great day.

Relegated Huddersfield eh? We’ll team him up with bottom six Championship player of the year Lee Gregory. Relegaters Assemble!

Phil Jagielka played for our relegated side in 2007, in fact he unnecessarily gave a goal away in the crucial last game.

Everton obviously made a big mistake signing him.

If only we could afford and sign Mitrovic too!!

You need to stop overestimating yourself. It's embarrassing. Your blunt dismissive tone and overconfidence shows you up time after time.

But OK, if we're doing pedantry...

My quote was "he doesn't really bring that" in regards to athleticism. I didn't say has no athleticism or is a poor athlete. Saying he has a good engine (stamina) is no contradiction, as that alone doesn't make you a particularly athletic player at the top level.

The modern athlete (oh sorry, 'athletic player') in football is quick and agile, with height favourable as it adds to a player's physicality. Footballing ability doesn't come into this argument. You're just bizarrely shoehorning it in for some reason (amazing really amazing oh how I chuckled etc).

Your clumsy reply indicated you were saying he is "attack minded" and that's the point of signing him! I know Hogg's a defensive player, yet have "fallen behind" (LOL) because I've pointed that out and suggested a more attack minded player would be a better fit. FFS... 😆
