The bigger man who makes it a bitch fest in the first place....

Oh how I chuckled.

Too many threads these days, particularly on the rumour section, are just becoming more and more diluted by guff.

Usually it doesn't bother me but because its 'only' an internet chat forum, but my word give a rest. Or someone show me how to use the ignore feature properly (which I don't really want to do because some of the posters who are guilty of diluting the chats are some of the best at discussing rumoured players).

You point went right over his head Ricky. Why did he go go ad hominem anyway, it adds nothing to the debate?
From what I've seen of Hogg, he's a workhorse who screens the backline. He's not the tall, powerful athletic player that can transition with the ball like Leroy Fer and other mooted signings. More a poor man's Makelele, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
If we have a flat midfield three we need more of a forward threat from our wing backs, and much more pace in the midfield three and strikers. The idea would be to defend deep and narrow against the better sides, before counter attacking.
It's an assumption that he'd play there, however: it's sacrilege on here, but he could be competition for Norwood's role in the current system? Wilder likes balance so a right footer is unlikely to oust Fleck imo.

Addendum: None of these opinions have benefitted from any football or non football related video games.
I reserve the right to disagree with any incumbent manager of Sheffield United, on any issue.

I think what we’re lacking is a big, strong athletic midfielder in the central role who would play about 50-60% of games when we can’t afford to have passengers out of possession like Duffy or Freeman.

Fleck is tough and decent out of possession a good tackler and Norwood dispossess players well without being able to tackle in the open field too well. So I think we’re lacking that big physical thread in there.

I could see us signing someone above 6 foot and who can get around the pitch really well. Someone similar to Diame that type of ilk. I hope we do anyway I’m just not sure of that many options for that type of player.

The ideal scenario I think, is to have someone for that RCM area who is properly comfortable playing deeper and advanced. Experience would be an additional advantage too, as I'm sure Wilder wants to bring in a fair amount of that. Diame fits the bill nicely if he's got enough left in the tank, and Fer played as an attacking midfielder earlier in his career. With this player we could effortlessly move between a flat 3 and the usual shape during games.

Lundstram?

I don’t really think lundstram has the pace for the championship, never mind the premier league. Think he might struggle against the speed in the premier league

Might be wrong, he’s a decent player but think championship is the limit of where he’s gonna be effective and imo we need a step up in quality.

I’m a Lunny fan and think he’s been un fairly scapegoated by some but good enough for the prem remains to be seen.
The last game he played for us ( can’t remember who, was it Hull or Stoke) but he looked leaner and more athletic than I remember him and he really made a difference.
Wilder obviously see’s something in him to have not released or transfer listed him. And he’ll always be a legend for that tackle on grealish.

Heard we are back in for Hogg..but we are trying to get on the cheap ..apparently could go to dealine day ..

For me , and no doubt all the Johnny come latelys will disagree, I think he could be ideal for the squad ..

The game has changed vastly since the days of Rogers Monty and Patterson ..but with our setup I think someone like him , away from home especially, could maybe win us a few points and be a useful as a leader type amongst the squad ..I'm my humble opinion..

Anyway heard from a pretty decent source so they think it's likely.. most on here want Colombian No10s who are like Tampax ( 1 in ..3 out ) ..but I for one think it would be a perfect signing ..for what we are after this year ..I.e survival...

Would be a top signing. Hudds fans love him puts 100% in every game and Been most consistent performer in the 2 years they were in prem

Considering the profile of the current squad, Hogg would probably be the best match of those players rumoured/suggested. No idea how much he'd cost although I doubt Huddersfield will be keen to sell following Billings going yesterday.

I certainly think he'd strengthen our chances of survival. There aren't many better fits for the defensive midfield role.

Wouldn't surprise me if what doucheman says is completely true and we sign him near the deadline.

He was pretty quick in the pace stats that were posted recently.
