I wouldn't be overly enthused by signing Hogg. You don't buy someone like him to be backup. So that would likely mean a lot of games with a deeper 3 in midfield, which hasn't worked too well previously. Alternatively, he could take Norwood's place, but doesn't have the same technical quality. So while I can see the value in having a solid character like him, I don't think he's the most suitable for us at this point, especially if he'd be costly.

I have no idea how long the healing process is but Norwood had a hernia operation as soon as the season ended.

Would make sense when they're getting overrun. McG can drop in there as could Robinson if CW manages to land him. Of course there's also Duffy and Freeman if he joins so lots of options

Haven’t you answered your own question. You say a 3 man midfield hasn’t worked well. So that would mean we have to improve for when we do go into this with better players.
