Wasn't at todays game but by all accounts a youthful SUFC side were more than worth their victory over the rich pigs.

I must say this again, we do have some decent young players coming through. Where as our neighbours have some exceptionally over rated youngsters living off their daddies name or that of playing for a Championship club. United have really slimmed down the first year professional numbers to players with a genuine chance to become first team players for our club, whilst the piggys have spent a fortune on players to try and be a success at U23s level without any hope that those players ever playing for the first team.

Today showed SUFC players playing for the team and the club they love, with another set playing for themselves with absolutely no love for the club they represent.

This is replicated from first team, down to the youth team. All from CW. Every player at SUFC wants to win for SUFC.

The pigs have a manager, players who are all individuals with no love or respect for the club they represent...

I just love SUFC.

To be fair to the Grunter's this wasn't really a fair match, because our players were clearly Superior to theirs. UTB

I note they still have that balloon, wish it would blow away again

It's really pleasing to know that our youth set up is still in much better shape than theirs. I mean at a lower age level too, as under 23s isn't totally representative of academy products (as exemplified by the Pigs' line up).

I much prefer our organic, sustainable and long-term vision under Wilder. Entrenching that ethos in the club can last much longer than if a rich owner decides to pull the plug on financing an underperforming team.

For anyone who didn't go. The scoreline flattered Wednesday. We controlled the midfielder with Reed, Slater Brooks and Mallon all confortable in possession. Brooks in particular was embarrassing them with a lot of slaloming runs. The big names in Wendie's line up were chasing shadows for the majority of the match. Slight criticism is that we really didn't put them to the sword, and wasted numerous set piece opportunities. They were direct and prepared to shoot on sight; we were patient and probing. The stats probably won't accurately represent the balance of the game.

Absolutely fuming at what happened today. Likes of James Murphy, Warren Clarke and Fraser Preston have played their part in a cracking season all year, but had to make way for the game that could have seen us clinch the title - because Lewis McGugan, Liam Palmer and Urby Emanuelson fancied a run out.

Senior players can pick and choose when they turn out for the U23s, and they decided that today was a nice day for a kick about.

They were here completely uninterested - McGugan pulling off fancy flicks and intercepted long balls. He and Emanuelson did more running when they were subbed off than when they were on the pitch.

There me was a big crowd there today, and regular fans of the youth sides wanted to see the lads win the title, but instead we got to see overpaid, overweight, uninterested tails trot round the pitch for an hour, lose the game, then roger off fot a shower when subbed, as if they'd broken sweat."

You've got to laugh UTB

To be fair, we've had a similar scenario recently. Wilder - perhaps understandably - wanting fringe players to get match time. Might well have cost us the u23 title.

We started with our current best 11 available and once again the mid field of Reed Slater Brooks and Mallon controlled the game it was only after we altered our shape with forced substitutions did wednesday get back into the game. Hirst and Smith up front pulled their defence all over the place and made room for our midfield. The second goal is well worth a look and once again shows how we attack and lay off the ball. We attack into the box and in the first half Brooks was running riot. Worth mentioning that the way we attack usually ends in a shot or interchanging passes we don't hit the line and cross. It was a nightmare for our opponents central defenders.
Having said that I expected more from Wednesday They are out in front in the league and we are in the mix of 6 others to land 2nd place. Watching this game you would never have believed it. There is still a chance we could end up playing Wednesday in the final of this competition. On the evidence of today's encounter we will win no bother.

Totally agree with you. The two cup exits still rankle a bit with me but its all about promotion and the man got it right. Although it was pulling out Reed and Brooks, regulars, that did for us.

Its all Blah Blah Blah on their part. We have had to play under strength teams this season, fringe players coming in for a run out as and when required.
The difference is that our first team fringe players have had enough respect for our youngsters to put a shift in when they do play. I have only good things to say regards Wilson, Reed, Long, McNulty, Scougall when they have played U23s. They have put a real shift in and shown great commitment.
The pigs fringe first team players don't give a shit about their youngsters, that in itself tells us everything we need to know about that club.

United have got to 3rd or 4th at U23s with a team mainly of 16/17/18 year olds. A fantastic effort. Remember the mainstay of the back four ( Callum Semple) has been missing for the last 2 months. He has been replaced by a 16 year old !!!.... It really is very very positive.

Talking about Pigs. I'm sat in the alehouse in town at the moment, and all I've heard for the last 20 mins is a very annoying whiny spotty young man who hasn't come up for air and is cackling (should that be crackling) on about the mighty Wednesday and how great they are with Forest Fairy and Rhodes, and that it will be a mismatch v Utd in the games next season. I seem to remember their total arrogance pre Uniteds double over them back in 91-92 season. The youth has completely bored the shit out of the pub clientele. They really are a breed of their own and can't help make themselves sound like daft twats can they? I've thought about ramming my bottle of Tsingtao down his throat but I have to keep telling myself he's just a thick Wendy c*nt and I should really pity the sad prick.
Has he given up on the chance of the Owls being promoted themselves?

Thanks for the reports lads and there's no one more pleased than me but they are top for a reason and we have to respect that for what it is but that's what makes the result even better and shows we have people wanting to show blood and guts for our club. This, along with pure footballing ability will take us well and truly above them in the footballing ladder.

UTB and fuck them cunts.

Is that you tyler?

Just watched the highlights and Sam Graham winning headers before both goals. How did the lad play?

Thought Sam Graham was excellent today won everything not sure what they called the tall lanky skinny lad up front for them....Hirst or something I think but Young Bomber just gets better and better each game....That said when Brooke's runs at teams it's a joy to see he just glides past people with ease and an elegance that oozes pure class defo a future star at BDTBL

He had a good game and has come on well this year. We play with a back three or four today and rely on a strong two holding in the midfield. This works well but in the closing stages we seem to tire and conceded late goals that have lost us games. I suppose this is to be expected as we play a high energy style. Great to see but we miss playing out from the back and miss Callum Semple. It's hard to find strong Centre backs who can play skilfully as well I can't wait to see Graham and Semple back playing together. They will be a fine combination for us

Look how desperate the Pigs are for their one youth hope to shine...

Just trying to work out what's needed for us to finish 2nd. 8 points cover the top 6 teams. If Hull win the top spot then Wed will be 2nd. For us to qualify we need to win our final 2 games against Crewe and Bolton and Hull to drop at least 4 points from their final 2 games. It's a big ask as Hull are the form team at the moment
No matter how it works out we have a group of lads who have done us proud this year and they deserve a decent turn out at the Lane for their final game against Crewe.
