I've just finished my pint of Jaipur on the way down to the U23s at the Lane.
Presumably no Semple nor Hallam.
Freeman to go 90 according to the official site.
A range of recent cancellations means we will go above Bolton at the Top on goal difference if we win this afts.

A fuller report on my Blog in due course

And, I'm expecting great things during the game from

I'll cut n paste what I can onto this thread.

Semple is on the bench . What's he doing there ? Graham is also on the bench . I thought he was one of the first names on the list nowadays or has he been injured ?

I presume Semple has been running & jumping a bit out in Spain with Stavanger. So, maybe he's not quite ready for 90.
I'll have to wait & see how they set up. But, maybe Graham is helping out by making way for A Trialist.

Here is my Blog report of today's U23 defeat to Huddersfield
Leaves us 2nd in the table.
90 mins for Freeman, mainly in the back three
Jake Eastwood had a great game in goal
Carruthers impressed me as well
But little from the two trialists I'm afraid
Read all abart it...

Phil just to clear something up after reading the blog Jake Wright Jnr has gone to Harrogate town permanently I believe which is a shame as he’s great to watch and leaves everything out there

WTF?
A black pale ale, what's with that?
Strictly it's a Black India Pale Ale. Beer naming is marvellously bonkers. White Stout has become popular recently. You don't see many Black IPAs nowadays. They were all over the place maybe 8 years ago. At that time, they were a style I loved. It's nice to come across them every now and then and think about the old days.
India Pale Ale doesn't come from India
Hardly any Pilseners come from Plzen
A lot of lagers aren't lagered ...
IPA has come to mean "heavily hopped" or "intensely bitter"
A Black IPA is a heavily hopped and intensely bitter beer made with roasted and toasted malt. The same type of malt used to make a black stout or porter. Bitter Stout.

Maybe I should also have said there are U23 games Monday & Thursday this week as we try to overcome a fixture backlog & get cup games played by the deadline.
Maybe there is some squad rotation & resting going on

Where were you drinking?

It was a strange set up with a new back three of Freeman, Hennegan and a trialist Thank Goodness Hennegan was on a game he looked frustrated trying to get the back three to work together. We also had a new,to me, Right wing back but there was little aggression from both wing backs. The defence was breached frequently and thank goodness Eastman was able to deliver a fine performance. It seems Jake Wright is playing elsewhere and we were playing Ti Smith on his own up front. I think Caruthers was supposed to be up front with Smith but there was little evidence of that, I watched Caruthers against Nottingham Forrest and he had a great match. today I thought he did not get as involved, a few flicks and a couple of good passes but his overall involvement made me wonder if he was fully fit.
We eventually returned to our regular defence of Graham, Hennegan and Semple and we tightened up and got a good few passes away although the opportunity of players to receive the ball was disappointing.
So a disappointing game for me and thanks to Eastwood we managed to keep the score respectable. I hope this is to enable us to field a stronger 11 on Thursday when we have a great chance to qualify for the Premier Cup

I've just finished my pint of Jaipur

Stag, Bath Hotel, Hallamshire other ?

The Bath Hotel is featuring a brewery takeover next Thursday, by the Marble brewery, one of my favourite UK brewers.

Russian Imperial Stout - 10.5 % :D;):):):)o_O

Marble Decadence 2017 Russian Imperial Stout 10.5% (440ml can)
by Marble
A double mashed Russian Imperial Stout, barrel aged for nine months, gives satisfying viscosity with dark and firm bitterness, Black Forest fruits and a hopped aroma.

Seems we have a few ale suppers at the Stags Head, maybe we should arrange a do, only on match day for the 10% discount though ;). I think Dem Blades writer also drinks there when he is not in Shatton.
