Well. Not a particularly enthralling U23 game in prospect Monday afts. v Bolton Wanderers at Shirecliffe, 2pm. As, the Bottom Two go head to head. Us & Bolton have played 43 games between us this season - with only 5 wins. One hundred & twelve goals conceded. Of course, Bolton had their difficulties at the beginning of this season. With Academy players having to step up to the First Team. And, that has clearly knocked their season sideways. They're P20 W1 D1 L18 F15 A67 GD-52 Pts4....

So, we're actually 13 points above them in 10th (second bottom, no relegation). We're 4 points adrift of SWFC, but have played three games more than them. Bottom line - it don't look good, results wise. Anyway - like the Carrier Bag Firm give a fuck - we'll be Repping as per. Although. Shirecliffe. Monday afts. First Team got a game tomorrow. I Spy Bubble Match. If not Behind Closed Doors. I'll let you know......

After being at the club for a while now, how highly is Verrips rated, will we need a new keeper when Henderson leaves ?

Yippeeeeeeeeeee. The U23s have won one.

Do you reckon it will be a similar team on Friday?
Bergen Blade Can I just be clear. If you're asking whether Friday might be more of a First Team Fringers XI, then I'd guess NO. We have shown no inclination to play "The Reserves" at U23 this season. We have consistently played full on young lads Development XIs.

What's peoples opinions on the international lads?

Couple of French, a Dane and a German Isn't there? Nationality in no way makes you a better player but surely these lads have something about them for them to be scouted and brought over?

Jordan Amissah is the German lad brought over as keeper
Nicksoen Gomis is the French lad
I don't think Simeon Oure, another French Lad is with us any more.
Not sure who the Dane is.

Hang on. I think the Dane is William Osula. He came on today as a Sub. I think that is his U23 Debut

Seems a good chance to give one or two players a bit of match fitness (especially if not involved at Reading and not in the squad vs Norwich), but you're probably right. Verrips and Bryan played this fixture at the Lane though.

What will it be like on Friday, will they make any attempt at separating home fans and Blades?

The U18s are at home on Saturday morning, so there's a chance to watch three Blades matches in 24 hours.

I always sit in the main, South Stand at Hillsborough. I have never been when there has been segregation. But, I know it has happened. If there is segregation, I myself won't use it. All the Oooohhhh I can't even be in the same KFC as a snort trotter brigade do my fucking head in.

I've got Death Duties at the weekend, so I can't do Norwich nor Crewe U18. I don't see the U18s as much as I'd like. But they're flying this season. Looks like they'll have a right good go at making the Play Offs

The backdrop is that our most advanced Academy players are on loan at League Clubs in England & Ireland. Following the January window, the next most advanced group of Academy players are on loan at non league clubs. So, the ones left at Shirecliffe & available for selection for the U23s are a very young group indeed. For eg Gomis played for the U23s today, but he's U18 eligible as are a number of other U23 regulars. And, the First Team have come a long way, quickly. It's easy to say our Academy players have been "left behind". There is essentially NO "first team buzz" about the two groups out on loan. And certainly not about those available for the U23s at Shirecliffe. Sure, there's lads who play well. Sure, some weeks one of them has a blinder. They're all competent players. So........
Against all that, the Foreign Lads, Jordan & Nicksoen, are undoubtedly good players. But, they don't make the hairs on your neck bristle. None of this group do. Doesn't mean they won't develop at different rates, quickly & soon. Doesn't mean they won't make it. Here or elsewhere. But, there's no one making you sit up & listen.
The most critical I'll be is - we've been living on scraps for years. Scraps from Man U, Man C, Borussia, Derby out there today. Brooksy was a scrap. Aaron was a scrap. So, it can work. But, it's still scraps. It's unclear to me what the Academy Recruitment Strategy is going forward.

comprehensive appreciate it, appears A couple of the international lads were here before joining the blades. Whatever happened to the lad Illman Idaye? (Think that’s how it’s pronounced)

Ndiaye is/was at Hyde Utd on loan (along with Reece York). He's still very much part of the Shirecliffe system. He came to us via the Rising Ballers "street" Academy. Along with Andall-Gibbons

Sorry. Got to get a shift on. About to drop off for the pubs/breweries en route Reading. I've published my Blog from the U23s. You needed a wristband to get in "certain gates" at Shirecliffe. No, honestly, full on Bubble Match. I also "helpfully" explain how the SUFC Academy can qualify for Europe. Plus a bit of a match report. Listing all the movers & some shakers. Get at it.....
