Two step plan to rescue our season

Sadly, sacking Clough will make very little difference. He has not stewarded our demise from the Premiership to regulars in League 1 in less than 10 years.

Sam Allardyce says he is fed up with tippy tappy football. He has a big centre forward called Andy Carroll and a couple of wingers and he likes to get that ball into the box, and to be fair to him it makes sense to play to your team's strengths.

I'd have thought it obvious that it's better to adapt your system to the players rather than try to get players to adapt to your system. The Blades also have plenty of decent wingers so I wonder why we insist on playing 4-5-1 which might look pretty but tends to keep us outside the area of the pitch in which we are most likely to score i.e. the opposition penalty box. Since we all agree that Michael Higdon lacks talent on the ball maybe it would be better for him, us and the team to let the poor guy have the ball on his head within sight of goal occasionally. He just might score some goals, you know.

Against Gillingham and Orient, when things got desperate, we abandoned the slow approach and bombarded them for the whole of the second half. It was exciting and everyone loved it. But ever since then we have wasted at least 45 minutes of every game making neat patterns on the field and continually taking a minute or two to end up back where we started, with the ball at the feet of our central defenders the wrong side of the halfway line.

No wonder fans are getting fed up. Football is a game we go to in order to get excited. We like goalmouth action and lots of it. It's very nice that the players look comfortable on the ball but we want the bloody thing in the other team's net, don't we?

How do you feel about wax crayon drawings and colouring books ?

I agree and this is nothing to do with hoof. No one wants to watch 90 minutes of passing the ball along the half way line.

It's about the attacking intent in the last third. The ball has to go into the box at some point, or you have a shot. Our delivery is generally poor and willingness to shoot lacking.

Of course we want them to be comfortable on the ball but we need to attack with pace and get decent balls in.

I'll need to dust down the stats again but we've scored about 80 goals in our last 80 league games. Dreadful.

87 goals in our last 84 league games - shite.

Oh, for a moment when I first saw the title of the thread I thought Walthy had the ideal plan.

Fuck the season and get down to the chippy on Sharrowvale Road - Two Steps was my favourite chippy some 35 year ago when I were living in Sheffield.
Proper Rissoles and lovely chunks of Cod served up by Graham and his Mum - terrific they were - # memries #nostalga

Just for you, Ken... (smell those scraps!)

Russell Nigel Latapy CM is a retired footballer from Trinidad and Tobago who played as an attacking midfielder. He is currently assistant manager at Scottish Premiership club, Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Me neither.

Ha ha yeah I got that off google too....

Step 1 - Fire Clough

Step 2 - Get Russell Latapy in

Job done.
The problem is he might be gone but the traunch average of signings will take 2/3 seasons to weedle out. We might get a new manager but he can't polish some of the turds we are lumbered with. The 5 year plan has been downgraded from Europe to escaping this league. Mccabe bought a name not a hungry ambitious L1 manager. Said it before will say it again.....

THE KING HASNT GOT ANY CLOTHES ON

Go on then, I can think of Higdon really as the only 'turd to be polished', who are the rest?

Leaving some of the developing players out of the mix as they might get better....

Scougal lightweight headless chicken
Alcock good and bad in equal proportions
Baxter lazy twat with a few flashes of brilliance
Wallace brilliant player but a stretcher case
Che Adams looked out of his depth from day 1

Those were the days when we had players and permission to run straight at defenders.

Attacking football mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Always preferred Russell Harty...

Describing a striker who will be leaving, a young dynamic midfielder who has done ok this season but we know can be fantastic, a brilliant midfielder who has injury problems and an 18 year old kid from non league as 'turds that need polishing' is almost as brainless a post as the bloke who wanted to sack Clough and appoint Warnock.

Can't agree on Che Adams, I thought he looked decent in his 10 minutes on Saturday, ran forwards, attacked the goal, had a shot. I agree with most of the rest of what you say.

Route one Sam , has been almost hounded out since he was appointed manager , they don't play the West Ham way ?
The percentage game is all well and good when it's working , like under sir Dave but it's shite when teams have worked you out
Even the cavemen in Stoke are sick of it , if it was so effective the pigs under Dave Moans would be in the Premier league ,
Pass and move , pass and move , stupid way to play a simple game , Don't tell Swansea it only took them ten years to get from 4th to Prem , you play kick and run in the league above you'll get slaughtered , whose top of the league a team playing football .

Aaaaagh! The slumbering Neanderthal giant that is the We ❤️ Hoof Brigade rears its grotesquely ugly head. It was only ever a matter of time. After all this is Bedrock Lane, where dinosaurs still roam the streets.

The football genius that is "Big Sam" has spoken. He's had enough of 'tippy tappy' football - and after all these years too!! What a sea-change. Michelangelo turns his back on art. Mozart plays a banjo. No wonder West Ham fans love him so much.

The S2 Cavemen are getting restless. Gerritintbox! Upanatem!

Kick it long; Kick it Hard; Kick it High.

Latapy in action.
