Prior to the Wrexham game there was a gang of Lads near the town hall who police on horseback were talking to in a light hearted manner. As I walked down the Moor, the lads were behind me, acting the hard man and it was obvious they were looking for trouble.

With last night's incident I don't think anyone should jump to any conclusions just because of something reported on Twitter

Seen a lot of youths wandering around recently before games. Was about 30 of them marching up London Road on Saturday, looking for god knows who.

I think it was me. Had a few Pokemon cards for swaps.

Loving how the club gets tagged, full house and one incident a over mile away in the centre of town?

For context me and my cousin who's also 70, and me 53 walked back to the Pub last Saturday after the match, we just talked about the game as we walked, and Watford fans around us did the same, we had a beer or two then went home, Watford fans who walked alongside us boarded the train and probably did the same..

It's called grown up behavior, and usually causes no upset, had we been calling people wankers all the way back, I guess it could have been different..

I hate mindless thuggery, and without provocation especially, but it's really rare that it happens that way, it really is a thing of the past, some banter would have gone sour is my guess, and the old boy kopped it sadly..

Note: some of us old fuckers have a mouth on us now and then you know, just sayin.

Anyone who went to the game at Tottenham in the prem will know blades got attacked by spurs fans outside a pub where the coaches were parked. I am slightly younger than this guy but we were followed and intimidated after the trouble all the way to the tube station. Didn't feel like approaching Tottenham fc or putting my mug on twitter though.

The tweet's got 21,000 likes on Twitter with blue tick accounts expressing sympathy. In other words it's gone viral. Which puts the club and more especially Blades fans in a bad light. It also means next time we play at Tottenham we'll have to watch out as no doubt some of their element will be looking for revenge. However, as others have said. We do not know the context. And that is the problem with social media. Also incidents like these were common and unremarkable back in the day, thankfully now they are rare. Because they are exceptional and given the nature of social media they receive huge attention. Hope the old fella makes a speedy recovery and Spurs give him a special day out as I am sure they will.

How do we know this fella didn't just trip over a wonky paving slab outside Berlin? 70 year old, it's dark and wet and slippy underfoot. We know nothing but what the son has said. It seems this guy was the only man who was a victim of violence as there is nothing anywhere else regards any fighting anywhere at all. You'd even expect that twitter feed to have comments of "yeah I saw this happening" or "I was on the opposite side" or "there must have been x amount of em". Absolutely nothing of the sort.

I once went to see Portishead at The Barbican in York. Afterwards, I got talking to a couple of blokes about the use of theremins in rock music, y'know Jimmy Page, The Who, Beach Boys etc. It was a delightful conversation. Now I wish I'd glassed them both and put it about on Twitter. I'm always crying out for decent socks. Another missed opportunity.

I got attacked outside the old White Hart Lane after the Spurs game in the League Cup in 2015. Pitch black, freezing, making my way back to the coaches the club laid on, which were parked in the designated coach park a fair walk away. I was sucker punched from behind and then a few times on the ground. I cleaned myself up, got on the coach and went straight back to Sheffield. I didn't really see it as the club's fault. It was the police that were nowhere near and utterly useless afterwards. The Ambulance staff were great. I never followed it up as it seemed pointless.

I also witnessed the "Norwich incident" at BL mentioned above. If I was outside Carrow road carrying on like that I'd expect the same treatment or worse. That's not condoning it, it's merely saying we live in a world of expected outcomes for our behaviour. That was the expected outcome for that behaviour. I do think that SYP are useless. It shouldn't be difficult to have a visible presence on that road that doesn't block the traffic especially when the away side has both tiers of the Lane end and the corner. It should've been an easy night's work for them. The last derby at BL was terribly managed.Hope they are both alright.

Hope his Dad is ok, my Dad is of a similar age but if I had to take him to hospital following an assault then Twitter wouldn’t be at the forefront of my mind.
