Just been watching the Triple Assault 02/03 season DVD; can't believe how much can change in 10 years. Seems like a million miles away at the minute :(

Yes, those last 10 minutes when you knew we'd score and RS was worth listening to and our pitch was actually greener.

One reason I love cup runs, not had a good run in them since 03/04 :( a good run in any cup gives teams a great boost of confidence, again something we are lacking at the moment.
Really wished we could go on and try to win the JPT as its the most realistic cup we can look at winning. I'd love some silverware, what ever the competition. :D
Getting knocked out early rounds of each cup hasn't helped with our promotion push so far, feels like such a wasted season 2012/2013 will be.
On topic 02/03 was very enjoyable, hopefully we can have these great cup runs again. :)

Yes thats when kabba was like ian wright , and peschi was on fire from the bench .browny was differant gravy.

I've got this DVD if anyone wants it, who's stuck indoors? Just DM me!

Thanks for this. loved watching it again. how fucking good was Michael Tonge

Just listening to the Undr the Cosh episode with Tongey. He's just explaining that he was effectively told to leave united on the deadline day, said he would have stayed forever if he could. They never even tried to persuade him to stay (effectively told him to leave). He also says the link with Liverpool was just Houllier saying that he liked Tonge but then got sacked and so the "interest" disappeared.

When Blackwell was at Bury he was a guest on a 5live deadline day special. Pulis was a phone guest. Blackwell was talking about how when he was at United he turned his phone off on deadline day so no managers could make late enquires.
Pulis just laughed and said that’s why I dealt with the chairman directly.

I’ll add that to the Blackwell tactical masterclass list:

1. Stick a striker on the wing
2. Deploy the ‘comedy’ free-kick routine
3. Switch the wingers to opposite flanks for a few minutes to bamboozle the opposition
4. Bully the youngsters to get them to perform better
5. Switch phone off on deadline to prevent selling/signing anyone

I wish I’d recorded the interview as he was chatting some real shit. He’d just had open trials at Bury where players from all over Europe were turning up, all lower league players. He was amazed at how little they earned, which I suspect was because they were part timers. It was like he thought the Latvian division 4 was somehow comparable to our L2.
Anyway, he managed to find one player who was something like 6’ 8”. No surprise there. I never heard of this player again.

I was always under the impression that he had no contacts in the game, that no one ever wanted to help him out or do him a favour and he didn’t have a scouting network to speak of. If you’re bored, make a list of all the signings he made and then make a list of the ones that were successful for us.

Do you have a link for that? I’ve searched for it but can’t seem to find it.

The chairman selling players over the managers head? At this club?

Well I never.

Whats with kop being half full? That season was my first ever season ticket so only young!

Looking back, some of the home crowds were incredible. Millwall (27th August) 13,024. Grimsby (17th Sept.) 14,208. Ipswich (9th Nov.) 15,884. Even Rotherham (14th Sept.) 19,948. With just over a month of this momentous season to go, we played Gillingham (25th March) - 15,799.
