Potential squad come February 2nd. Rumoured transfers and injured players will be listed separately. Listed Sam Curtis as both RB and CB as I've seen people say that he can play both positions.

GK: Grbic, Wes, A Davies, Amissah
RB/RWB: Bogle, Curtis
CB: Anel, Curtis, Robbo, Trusty, RND
LB/LWB: RND, Trusty, Osborn, Larouci
CM: Souza, Hamer, Brooks, Slimane, Norwood, Osborn, McAtee
ST/RF/LF: Osula, Archer, Brewster, Mcburnie, BBD, McAtee

Injured players: T Davies, Lowe, Baldock, Egan, Basham, Fleck, Arblaster, Peck

Rumours: Mepham, Holgate, Godfrey, Worrell (only one of these needed and looks likely to be Worrell at the moment)

Other: Easton, Hackford, Jebbison?

Not the best options but looking a lot better than it did come September 1st last year, especially when you realise that only 3/4 of them definitely will be with us next season in the championship.

Basham been upgraded from squad filler to key player then? Wilder does realise it's 2024 and not 2018?

Yes, it's almost like quoting a single stat without context is meaningless.
"Ivo Grbic. 4 clean sheets in his last 33 league games. (0 games this season, 12 games for atletico last season, 21 games on loan for Lille in 21/22). A poor record playing in 2 decent teams. I'm not sure he's the answer to our problems but at least he's cheap."

I literally provided all the context in the world.

  • Perhaps the teams he played for are 'decent', but play ultra-attacking football with only one defender, and win their games 7-3 or 8-5?
  • Perhaps in the other 29 games, he only conceded 1 goal in each game (29 conceded in 33 games wouldn't be bad)?
  • Perhaps his teams had the most shots against out of any sides in the league, and the reason they're 'decent' is because he made so many saves.

There is plenty of other context that you missed out. The point being that looking only at stats like that is pretty meaningless.

Ok OK here's 2 thing I've found which is positive. I hadn't seen his Champions League stats previously.
For Lille he made 6 CL apps and kept 3 clean sheets. Also for Lille it was 21 played in the league and 26 conceded. That's pretty good, kind of rare to concede so little, yet keep so few clean sheets (2).

It appears Lille's issue in that season was scoring goals. They scored 48 and conceded 48 in 38 games. So OK my bad I should have looked a bit deeper.
Maybe we've got a bargain?
