Would you scrap them?

I would. Creates a very unsteady and unfair market, further down the football pyramid you go, the worse impact they have.

On top of that, you get the impatient fans clamouring for signings - not because their club need them, but that's what your meant to do right? Sign loads of players because you can. And one of them must be in the last few hours or the rest of the month can be deemed a failure too. Sky Sports (them again) are as much to blame for this with their glorified coverage of something that its that exciting.

Lets go back to how it worked so well for many many years.

How it used to be, is that a bigger club could come in during April, buy your best player and fuck up your chances of promotion.

The whole point was to stop clubs buying their way to promotion late in the season so I do think there needs to be a cut-off (and I appreciate this will always lead to a panic on the last few days), the problem is that the window is one month in January. Scrap this ridiculous emergency loan nonsense and allow transfers up until January, i.e. no break between September and January and then teams don't have to conduct all their business in 4 weeks.
