Having almost accepted yet another shit-show of a transfer window at BDTBL one thing still puzzles me.

Why couldn’t we get the likes of Phillips and Choudhury, Kitching through the door earlier and get a full pre-season into them?

They’re all playing catch up now to ‘get fit’.

Was it just to save a few quid on wages or were we just scrambling round through at the last minute as usual after failing elsewhere?

What training were they doing with their clubs?

Kitching & Choudhury have had proper pre-seasons and have both featured for Coventry & Leicester before they came here. They're both fully match fit
Not bedding in with us though and from what we’ve seen of Choudhury and Phillips ‘fully fit’ is a stretch.

Surprised Kalvin didn’t come in sooner however we will have been waiting for Coventry to decide who they were happy to leave on loan, if Bobby Thomas went down injured in the 1st couple of matches the Kitching would likely stay at Cov.

I’m guessing Seriki’s injury was the reason we moved for Hamza.

Cov were getting new CBs in up until fairly recently so wouldnt
release Kitch till they were sorted (sensible) and Hamza would have been negotiating some kind of financial package to pay up his contract (also good for us as makes him a free agent so no fee)

Phillip's just hasn't played any competitive football for a long time (except a couple of games for us last season) so will need time to get up to speed. He is gonna be a game-changer for us imo.

There was a rumour that Kalvin Phillips was all agreed much earlier in the window and then his agent tried to get a bigger fee so we stepped back.

If that is true then fair fucks to the club for not bending over for a greedy agent and standing firm.
Yeah I remember it going round that he was coming in then silence, so makes sense.

Loans I guess is more the parent club will want to weigh up there options. Kitching could have stayed with Coventry right up until the end of the window depending on their other ins and outs. Also, financially, why pay someones wage for 2months when you can wait until September to start funding them.

The only "preseason" they all need is to form partnerships and get to know and understand their team mates better.

Its a shame we couldn't get in Kitching earlier and he could have started to form a partnership with Tanganga but I think that would have only happened if we actually bought a player, rather than a loan.

Choudhury did the full 90mins.
Kitching did a full 90 in league cup with Coventry.

Don't think fitness wise these two are an issue. Might be more tactically.

Phillips got injured with us last March and only returned to training this summer. At Man City they just want him out, but would rather sell him.
So guess they waited to see if they had any bids before sending him back out on loan.

His agent must be gutted. A couple of years ago he was getting a cut of a multimillion transfer fee from Man City. Now he’s chiselling a few quid from a potless championship club’s loan deal.

Heart bleeds.

Cheers.

Be interesting to see if Kitching starts Saturday.

We bring these loans in late so that they are available for the play off final.

I am joking lads honest 😂
